Yeti's $ demands were too high given the Bs other pending contracts. Spooner has his chance now unless there are bigger things to come. Eriksson now becomes the big issue.

This is pretty much how I feel. Had his moments, but they were too infrequent. And he didn't show me much during his first full post-season. My gut tells me this bodes well for the Sweeney era.

Guy was a pretty good/affordable 3rd-line center. Reaching UFA means he's no longer affordable. Good luck on your next team, hopefully someone younger/cheaper can do as well as you centering the 3rd line.

In the end the trade worked out well for the Bruins.
Couldn't have had a worse season during a contract year.
I think Carl heads back to Europe after this next contract.

Bon voyage Carl. As Sweeney said, there will be changes. A new-look Bruins team is taking place. Okay Don. Sign McQuaid.

The Yeti struggled way too often last season even when playing against the other teams 3rd line which is where he typically made hay. He was underwhelming against 2nd lines on the occasions he faced them. Somebody is going to overpay him and end up disappointed that he's a 3rd liner at best, and an inconsistent one at that.

For a 3rd line centre he did a pretty good job,but i thought when injuries hit and he got 2nd line minutes he would pick up his game,he didn't and thats when the B's needed him most. If King Carl could have raised his game the B's would have made the playoffs,he didn't. There were moments when i thought he might get it done, but too many vanilla games for a guy 6'3" and over 200 lbs. Good luck Carl.

I am fine with not re-signing him, but I will always have total respect for him playing in the NHL with only one eye. I had to give up pickup hockey because of the same problem. Between lack of depth perception in receiving passes, and getting literally blind-sided all too often, I cannot imagine doing it at an NHL level.

B's fans discussed this guy on and off for over six years.
29 goals later, he's gone.
Bust...from the conversation to conversion ratio!

It'd be a tough league to play in even if all of your senses were at 100%. He and Berard always had my respect for what they overcame to play. That said, I won't miss Carl. I never considered the idea that he could be back. PC should've moved him at the deadline. Oh well.

Bye bye Sodzy. I could care less to be honest. I think Loui made him. Should have dealt him at deadline.
As for Mcbandaid he's gonzo as well. Some moron will give him 3-3.5 a year. He's a bandaid and bottom pairing. I'd keep him if he came back for 2m.
I still think one of Loui, Lucic,DK or Marchand will be dealt with hopefully getting rid of Kelly at all costs.
I'd also have no problem dealing Dougie. Say maybe for the Leafs First round pick and Polak

I would give McQuaid $3M per year. If DS could get Darth for that price range I would be happy to have him back.

It's the amount of time B's fans spent talking about him (which means the amount of time I spent reading about him) that bugs me!

So long Carl. I liked you at 1M. I'd hate you at 3 or 4. I think the B's will be fine with Krejci, Bergeron and Spooner as the top three centers.

A completely unremarkable hockey player.

A completely unremarkable hockey player. He's probably a solid 40-50 point guy. I'm not sure what that's worth in today's market.

It was a remarkable story though. When the trade went through it was kind of exciting. He looked good. We could get the prospect crush. Then that was all eroded away by a guy who preferred to stay in Sweden and basically said he'd never come over and ride the AHL bus. Everyone gave up on him, and the Yeti stuff was both humorous and kind of accurate since he seemed mythological. I was sure we'd never see him. Then all of the sudden PC gambles on bringing him over, with swirling doubt that Mr. Swede can really just jump in and play NHL hockey. But he does. He was good. Not top-6 good, or $4 million good, but good. He wasn't even the finessy-Euro-type that we expected either. He scored in the trenches and went to the net.
That said, I can't imagine anyone being too fired up about this story coming to an end. It's time. I don't think he's worth much more money, especially for a team with cap constraints and apparent depth at center.
So long, but good for Soderberg. He proved that he's an NHL player amid a lot of doubt.

Honestly, I think the end for Soderberg was his inability to play the wing. That, more than anything, meant he wasn't going to last in Boston. I'm not even talking about the eye thing; I mean he literally looked lost out there when they asked him to play any position but centre. So the 20+ game goal-less drought and the bad habit of chucking terrible no-look (notice I didn't say blind...) passes into space that killed possession were a factor, but the fact he was never going to unseat Bergeron or Krejci meant he was never going to be worth what someone is going to pay him now.
I'm fine with the fact they kept him for the run. They needed everyone they could get and still came up short. Unless he went for a defenseman who would have helped, I don't think there was any great loss involved.

That man was dealt bc the bruins couldn't afford him.

Always wanted more from him. Can we have Hannu back? Poor Hannu--Was having a decent rookie season until he broke his ankle & was never the same after that. Loved how many saves he made in the splits. I have 4 pics of him on my shrine & they're some of the most awesome goalie pics I ever seen. Here's a few. He did make the record books though. He's the goalie that allowed Crosby's 1st NHL goal. Attachments:
