The Rangers look pretty rusty tonight. I'm not sure why, since this is the Metropolitan Division Final and the teams and play are generic and boring.
I think Calgary-Anaheim will be the better of the nightly games. That should be a physical series with the classic gritty underdog and unconvincing favorite.
The Francophone coaches are coming up big in the postseason, Therrien, Hartley and Vigneault. RDS/TVA must be pitching a tent.

I wasn't aware that anyone was playing last night until I got a text from HB about Joel Friggin' Ward. What is it with that guy? He's old. He's never been a classic "good player", but when the heat is on, he's Mike Bossy.

I missed a lot of the game, but I agree that the Rangers looked pretty rusty. I was really hoping for the NYI-NYR series for entertainment value. Nothing better than a bunch of New York assholes vs. a bunch of New York assholes.
Joel Ward makes me nuts. He looks like he's 50, can't skate, and then he keeps scoring all of these clutch goals. I hope nobody from Norway tweeted anything racist to him, because that would mean that Bruins fans are bigoted....

Joel Ward has from what I can tell has been a fringe player. Probably some better players that him that aren't in the NHL. Limited skills, average skater at best, but he has made a living by going to the net. You go there and get dirty, pay the price and good things will happen. I have never seen a Joel Ward goal from the slot, and that's a credit to him.

That's a good point kel. Always ugly goals from him.

Habs vs Hype tonight
I'm sure you all are rooting for the Lightning, and I would have a different answer before the series (Habs in 7) but after watching the DET series, I'm not very impressed by Tampa. I think they're a classic regular season offensive powerhouse a la San Jose that drops off in the playoffs. They don't seem to have another gear, and John Cooper is by far the most overrated coach in the league. He was having trouble matching lines for Stamkos at HOME. Check out their special teams, that's on coaching also.
The Habs are going to clog up the neutral zone, and I don't think Tampa has the cycle game to beat the Habs down low. This could be a very, very boring series if all goes well for the Habs.
Ben Bishop in a Game 1 and potential Game 7 at the Bell Center is a terrifying thought for Lightning fans.

Well yes, I'll be rooting for Tampa, but I agree that they didn't look too strong vs. Detroit. Price is going to have to slip a little for them to have a real chance. If he locks it down, they're screwed.

Something early to watch out for, Tampa is really weak in front of their net.

They're all jacked up about Bishop's "great save". It was a recovery after a bad play! Damn I hate that guy!

A dandy dive.
The Habs are entering the Tampa zone at will, but per usual, they forgot to put the blades on their sticks.
Tampa's playing decent "road hockey."
Cliches abound from the Rangers announcing team. I thought Jim Hughs on was on this series?

Questionable call there. Didn't seem like he was "pushed", and the puck was clearly in the net far before the whistle blew. Seems like the motion of the save as an effect of the move made by Kucherov is what sent him back into the net.

Horrific call. It wasn't a "For the Habs" call, but it was the wrong call!

Hope they keep coming...even the ones who will hammer me.
