Ya he's having a better year but he is still not living up to his potential. I'm not sure what his new contract will look like but I can't imagine he'll want to stick around in buffalo. With his baggage, dip in play, and reliability, what can he had for? Yes I want the kids to play but he sure would look nice on DK's lw for more of a scoring threat on that 2nd line(which is the weakest line lately). I'd be willing to do a 2nd round pick that turned into a 1st if he singed with the Bs or if the Bs made it to the finals. I know he has his problems but didn't Horton have the same rap? DK likes to play with big bodies. I like JD on his wing so if we could find a scoring RW that we could fit in for spooner I'd be up for that. I don't mind hanging onto Spooner for a playoff run for in case DK goes down. But I guess we have other options with Backes or one of the kids for Ptown
on a side note does any one wish Buffalo's hockey team was the called the Wings?

No to Kane. Yes to Buffalo Wings.

Unless it is RNH or Shupe's favorite Hjalmarsson, I'm in favor of staying the course with the young players. Of course I am not a superfan of Krug and Spooner, but if Spooner keeps producing and Krug is placed on the third pairing then all is fine. In another year the lineup will undergo another major change, the additions of veterans though is in the summer. I am not sure DS is good at trading, I prefer he wait till he has more time to assess talent and look at pending UFAs during draft time.

Evander Kane on the Bruins?
No.
Nay.
Never.

If Cam supposedly didn’t like Seguin he sure isn’t going to like Kane.
Sweeney doesn’t need to overpay. Other GMs will pay the cost for EK.
What will the Sabres ask for ?

There's a great story about Frank Layden, former Utah Jazz coach, saying something like Why do we call the basketball team in Salt Lake City the "Jazz"? There's no Jazz in Salt Lake City. And there's no Lakes in Los Angeles, either. You know what they have in Los Angeles? Jazz. You know what they have in Utah? Lakes. I think there's logical solution here. Just make Detroit the LeSabres and Buffalo the Wings and away we go. While we're at it, maybe Edmonton should pony up and become the Renewables.

Whoops only worth a 3rd rounder now. Who picks up this guy? Is it going to be a young team or a group of vets that a GM will hope to tame. Even with the year he’s having, how much money can he expect to get on his next contract?

Even with the year he’s having, how much money can he expect to get on his next contract? He's on pace for 30+. They'll get a first + for him unless something happens off ice I doubt that. Let’s say he is on pace for 35 goals. If he’s traded with 20 games left, that’s 9 goals on the new team. Bubble teams need their first round pick. Locks don’t need those nine goals. And he’s a douche bag that has proven to be a problem with his teammates. And he has an expiring contract.

Good teams won’t want him because they won’t want to risk their chemistry for an asshole. Bad teams won’t want him because he’s UFA. The only market I see for him is a desperate GM trying to salvage a lost year. Montreal and Edmonton jump out. Bergie has already bowed his head waiting for the bullet so I could see a Hail Mary deal there. Chiarelli has shown he doesn’t mind assholes with his decade long love of Kassian, so why not throw in Kane. But I wouldn’t expect any offer to top Stempniak levels.
