What's this mean. Colorado buys a window of opportunity to try and sign him?

Nevermind. Got it.
The trade now gives the Avs a week to negotiate with the forward before he hits the open market.

See ya Carl. You brought a lot of mystique, intrigue, and lore to the board. I was hoping for a abominal snow monster and you ended up being a one eyed Frosty the Snowman. You are going to ask for 5 million plus from Colorado and they might not oblige.

I like it. Something for nothing.
I also think this officially spells the end for Ryan O'Reilly in Denver. Colorado does not need another center, as that roster currently stands. There could be some very interesting draft day deals.

Hmmm...so Roy is going to have to scour the wooded tundra looking for him to negotiate?

He thinks he deserves an elite player contract on the basis of intangibles and 'character'. He's a versatile, but limited, 2nd line center who scored 55 points and was -5 last year. Anything over $6 million a year is a major waste of money for him.

A 2016 6th round pick. It's the equivalent of buying a car from your dad for $1.

Yeah, that dollar could be used to by a lottery ticket and that lottery ticket could be a winner.
It probably won't be, however.
And no, fellas, I don't need any draft history lessons.

I think its better than simply letting him go to free agency. What you might realistically get in return is someone who might be able to crack the Providence lineup and replace Tommy Cross.
I will say this as long as I live and breathe, something is better than nothing.
