Come to think of it, I would absolutely loooooooove it if the media made it standard to cover these requests to go play with LeBron or McDavid or whoever as "James Harden has declared his interest in being Kevin Durant's circus orphan with full, pouty lips."

Yep, not sure how a 6 foot 10 guy drives to the net, gets slapped on the wrist and acts likes he's been shot.
Remember that meme of Lebron getting carried off the court with cramps and Greg Campbell blocking a shot while still on the ice with a broken leg?
I'm sure someone here can find it.
It was Paul Pierce, not Lebron. Made it that much more salient that it was a Celtic compared to a Bruin.
I'm 100 pct certain it was Lebron, I just googled it and saw it. I have no idea how to attach photos here, but you'll see it. Man, he has a alot of memes.
Another thing about the NBA, the real good teams always win, always,oh or the team that has Lebron, there's never upsets like the in NHL. I can't say for certain but you never see a lower ranked team, say the 8th seed knock off a bunch of favorites and go to the final, never happens. NBA playoffs are boring, you know there is only about 4 or 5 teams that have any realistic chance to win it all. And now the players have all the power as Book said and want to play with their besties so they can win a championship, takes out all the fun. All the fun i guess unless all the besties want to play on your favorite team, blah. Did anyone really think the Trail Blazers or Magic had a chance........nah.

Yeah thats it, in the meme it had Campbell on the other side staying on the ice with a broken leg. It was beautiful.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the last Celtics title run (I think) where Pierce was carried off and then came back out and played. There was more to it and people claimed he was faking because I think it amounted to a free TO for the Celts or it broke momentum or something.

A bit more on the Harden thing with TSN putting up a story saying the Nets might not pay what the Rockets want for Harden.
This kind of thing is going to get more curious, isn't it? When LeBron chose to take his talents to South Florida, and team up with Bosch and Wade to win titles, it was almost a first. We'd seen the Lakers collect aging stars like Malone, Payton and others to try to get them a ring on the backs of Kobe and Shaq, but this was three young stars looking to win big and two moving as FAs. Then it was Durant to the Warriors, and that just opened the flood gates with Houston trying to get their big three around Harden with Westbrook and Paul, the Clips with Kahwai and George, and the Nets waiting for Durant to be healthy again with Kyrie already on the floor. And then Anthony Davis to the Lakers. Didn't work for Harden, and now he wants to be the add and not the foundation.
And the Nets aren't willing to pay the price. Sounds like it's a bunch of firsts and a couple of roster players not named Durant or Irving. I have to wonder why. I guess there's two reasons. One is that the players all have opt-outs so the Nets could find themselves with out players or picks in two years if they make that deal, and that would make any pick in three years a potential top 3. The second is...what if this ends up being Houston 2.0? Great team, great players, but not good enough to beat the Lakers, so out in round two. Could have fallen to the Clips or the Nuggets, too. This strategy isn't as much of a guarantee now that there are 3-4 teams around the same perch (Lakers, Nets, Bucks, Clippers).
The whole thing is interesting because of the Bruins situation. If there's a season, this is a natural all in year. NHL isn't like the NBA - there's no player they could acquire who would instantly make them a prohibitive fave, but say they had a chance to give up - in whatever combination - the following: their next five firsts, three seconds and three thirds plus Studnicka, Vowels, Beecher, DeBrusk, Krejci and Bjork for Hedman, Panarin, Doughty, Kane and Malkin. And somehow the salaries would work out. Your top two lines are Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak, Panarin-Malkin-Kane with Coyle and Smith anchoring line 3. Your D is McAvoy-Hedman, Doughty-Carlo, who-cares. Rask is back. Is that close enough to certain for you to give up all those picks and futures? If you go full Marlins like this, knowing what it means if you fail, is it worth it? Even if you succeed, you might only be on top for a couple of shots at the ring, and then your cupboard will be pretty bare and you'll have some hefty, ugly salaries.
My gut always says you don't want to give up the farm...but then it also says a title is worth everything.

Yah that happened as well against the Lakers during the title run.
