If it’s bad ju-ju to talk about the playoffs before the regular season has ended, please delete this thread. If not, I just wanted to throw some things out. Who would you guys prefer in the first round? Right now it looks like either the Isles or Pens. Personally, I’d take the Pens. They have suspect goaltending and really only two lines that can hurt you over a series. The Isles have a bit more about them and I have a sneaky feeling that b*stard Sorokin can go on a “Binnington-like” run and backstop them to a deep run. While we’re on the topic, fuck you Binnington. Hasn’t done squat in his career other than that crazy run to the Cup against the Bruins. Typical bang average NHL goaler (my fave Commie Contrarian expression) since.

No ju-ju involved; it's up to the team to make or break their playoff run, and maybe a good bounce or two. :-)
Like you, I would prefer the Penguins vs. the Isles or even Panthers in the 1st round. Panthers have started to heat up in the last 5 games. It will be interesting to see which team fails to make the playoffs out of the three of them.
No question, some very good teams in the East are going to go golfing this year after the 1st round.
Can't wait for the fun to begin.

I said Pens a week or so ago, and still feel that way. Second choice Panthers. First round always seems to be the big upsets. Seems to take a week or so, to get acclimated to the notion that despite 6 months of tomorrows, it can be over in an instant. Always nervous about round 1.

Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves?
The season ain't over yet.
Just because something is - or is not - mathematically or statistically impossible doesn't mean that you can't spend years arguing about and claiming it's not true.
Quite frankly, the Panthers won the President's cup, and they won by a LOT.
All the Panthers need is 11 12 21 more wins (at this time) and if they recount the wins in Georgia (against the Thrashers), they are the President's Cup winner. A phone call should do it.

Dont care either way except for the Bs lineup being healthy. 2nd round matchup is more of a concern.

I'm with San... Couldn't care less. We are not the team that needs to pick and chose our way to the cup, we are the team other teams try to avoid on the way to the cup.

Pitt needs the Isles or Panthers to lose one of their remaining games, i don't think it's going to happen. Seeya Sid.

Who will be the black Aces......Wagner, Steen, Lauko, Reilly, Stralman ? Called a bunch of PBruins up on emergency basis for today's game. Put the Praavidence players in the GDT.

Sit Marchand for a few days. No hockey at all. Hasn’t scored in 15 games, I think he’s fighting an injury or at the least needs to rest.

He is quoted as not wanting to rest...he played better this past game but he is not the same confident shooter...something is probably up with him (hiding an injury).

Agree about his play last night; he was skating hard, hitting and had some decent shots on net. He's saving his best for the playoffs.

Pasta is playing better and if Marchand gets back on track watch out! They need to shoot more and stop forcing looking for the big play. That is the one thing that concerns me going into the playoffs

Everyone is going to go apeshit with the lines, so here is what I would do, and it's very outside the Box of thinking: 59-18-88 46-37-63 (yes Kretch at wing) 74-13-71 (try stopping this line when all 3 are playing at their best) 17-92-21 and I can tell you 11 is in a numbers game and 10 is gaining on him.
D: 73,27,81,25,48,75 (28)...pair em anyway you want.
PP, no more of this unit #1, unit #2...if when the PP starts, these guys are not winded 18-59-88-46-81 (and/or 27).
Until 63 figures it out, I'm tired of him killing the PP and 37 is not a PP guy anymore. Both 63/37 were great PP guys in the past, but that's the past.
PS--you can try these things and if they don't work, then you switch. It's not like some of these guys don't already adjust super well on odd shifts.

I'll go on record as saying I want Pitt cuz they suck, then I want the Cats...I don't want the Isles in a first round matchup. I know the B's would probably still win, but Isles are a heavy heavy team and Sorokin is the best goalie they would face.
I know I know, you gotta beat who you play...but I'd really like the B's to have an easier first round and not arrive at TB/Tor pummeled.

My playoff thoughts: Bring ‘em on.
It’s time. Fun, fun , fun season. Amazing. Now it’s time for the season that matters.
Not very controversial.

It looks like the Pingu got their gift, the Isles lose to an undermanned Caps team in regulation. The Pens win out they're in, the Panthers got a loser point against the LeRfs to hold onto WC #1.

I always want the best, don't give anyone a chance to say "you got lucky, X team stumbled before they could get their playoff footing" or whatever. Second, think about this: this hasn't been a season of uncommon good luck, where everyone stayed healthy and the team always clicked and everyone is having a career year all at once, just... stars aligning. There's been some of that at times, but they've also had key players down and out for long stretches and haven't had a 100% full, healthy roster for long stretches.... if it comes together over the next week and they hit the playoffs with everyone available, they should have by far the best odds of making it through the playoff tourney grinder. For me, this is what sport is about: you've had an historic season, now can you take all that chemistry, skill, success, etc. and cash it in over the next 2 months and raise the Cup? I think they can, looking forward to the games!

I think they can, looking forward to the games! excellent thoughts. there is the reality of stability..."regardless"...that we just don't see in sport. we haven't lost 4 of 7 once... all year. we haven't been blessed with a crazy amount of career years...we haven't been blessed with perfect health. our amazing goaltending is backed up by a plenty capable backup, should our starter fade at an inopportune time. we've been the nuts all year, and that early strength, has been added. Unlike most years, the top regular season team separates itself from the rest of the league, by going on a tear at some point. If that time is pre February, their strength is masked by point totals. our Bruins started on fire, and maintained their pace for 6 months. unheard of. we'll have some setbacks, but so will everyone else. no one has proven their ability to deal with them, more than our Bruins. these last few games should have the entire organization rabid. in the meantime, there are 2 games to be played, and the compete has to mirror game 7's. there are no on/off switches, and there are no unimportant games from here on out. rest the weary and audition the rest. it's go time, and everyone needs to be frothing at the bit. the opportunity to build on something that hasn't happened in over 100 years is mind boggling. playoffs have started imo.

If the Bruins could somehow pull every PBruin player up for the last two games. I would do more cartwheels than Harry did when he finally got a taker for Kevin Stevens.
I don't give a rats fat ass about the rest of the regular season. Stay and get healthy.
