Listened to 32 Turds in the car and Friedman wasn't willing to olay the offseason what if game but he did say that if they do lose the series, that's it for this group. Tavares has a year left. Marner the same. Nylander and Matthews have new deals.
I guess the question is do you, or can you, trade Marner. If you take the $20M for Tavares and Marner off their Cap, they will have some serious flexibility to address the blueline and goaltending. They already have some decent secondary players and a few young players/prospects who really only fit in the top six scoring roles.
Have to think a smarter GM sees a loss in this series as pubkic relations cover to do the hard stuff of carving up Toronto's binkies

I wonder with Matthews if there isn't really an illness involved at all, and this is a cagey way of dealing with a physical injury that they don't want to talk about.
What kind of illness keeps getting worse after 5 days for a 26-year old, with an all-world medical team surrounding him?

The only other thing would be some serious disease and that's unlikely for a multitude of reasons.

Marner is the only guy who has a year left on his current deal and then he can pick where he wants to go, Nostrils & Nylander have long term deals in place and Tavares is well entrenched with his family in TO, i don't think he will want to go anywhere. I think until Johnny Cupcake's contract expires and loosens up $11 mil they are sorta hooped. As far as Marner i have no idea what they'll do with him.

They've played up Tavares coming home for too long to ask him to waive, but then again they are shameless and tone deaf. I know the people who did the ProLine ads with Johnny Cupcake (TM to shupe on that one) drawing the parallel that when you bet with ProLine the profits fund community projects rather than line the pockets of the bookies, so be like JT who came home because he wanted to give back.... I tried to tell them.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Shattenkirk come out.

Twitter embed not working:
Derek Forbort, Kevin Shattenkirk, Jakub Lauko, and Linus Ullmark are still on the ice.
Indicates that Matt Grzelcyk is in tonight.
Ugh.

I have no idea what the thought process is about Gryz coming back in.

Here's what I hope we find out:
Shatt is banged up, so Gryz in.
JVR still not quite right, so Brazeau in... OR Maroon needs a game off coming back from surgery, Brazeau in.
Any other tinker-dinker reason will make me cringe. After watching the Leafs salivating every time Gryz was on the ice in game 2, sending 2 forecheckers in to pummel him, I worry we'll be skating with 5 D max by the second period.

I don't think Montgomery is changing the lineup for something to do, if Shatt is out it's because he's nicked or tired, one or the other.

Hope Matthews is playing just to make sure that complacency doesn’t set in for the B’S….
Cheshire Cats will enter round 2 with at least one more days rest….

Sometimes it feels like extra rest in the playoffs is more bad than good. Sometimes you just want to keep rolling game to game vs. sitting around for a week trying to practice hard when you're already wired up for war

I don't think Montgomery is changing the lineup for something to do, if Shatt is out it's because he's nicked or tired, one or the other. He is no longer useful, he was okay on 5 on 5, but with #1 PP working, they don't see the need for 12. I don't think Forbort is ready, which means 48 is considered a better option (said no one ever) on the d pairings.

Bruins getting so much disrespect from Canadian media. The narrative is TO is not playing to their potential, not that the Bruins are.
The presumption is the leafs are simply the better team but are underperforming.
The problem with this scenario? The Bruins were the better team in the regular team and are the better team in the playoffs. It ain't rocket science.
Hope the Bruins crush them tonight and end this drama lama excuse for a team in TO.

They’re there to either pump or deflate the tires of the Canadian clubs….

He says they pay the bills around here.

I can't positively say what will happen tomorrow night, but it seems if the LeRfs don't win they certainly have a plethora of excuses lined up, wow. - Laffs stars are sick or hurt. - Of course the Jacobs factor. - The League is against Tarana. - Boston hardly ever gets penalized. - Marchand gets away with murder. - Lufa fans at Scotiabank are bored. I particularly like the idea that Marchand gets away with ANYTHING, much less actual penalties. He usually gets called if he is just in the neighborhood and something happens. And there’s pretty much cart blanche on taking runs at him. That’s how the Bertuzzi thing started - - Bertuzzi basically cross checked him in the face of a Dead Things game 3 or 4 years ago. No penalty, of course.
