Panarin and Teravainen already contributing for Chicago.
Awful Crawful couldn't handle 27 shots.

Lame ass ending to the NYR game. The last two minutes were like an NBA game.

Lucic gets a match penalty for stalking Couture? I guess Milan was mad about Couture laying a hit on him.Didn't see the game, but seems pretty odd. The refs seem to have followed him to LA. Sutter and Fat didn't like the call, from what I've read.

OK, so the Flames will not be this flat, but Dougie registers a -2 and leads a D-corps that gave up 44 shots? Ha!

Blackhawks got hosed by the ref, should have had tying goal with a minute left.
And I hate that NBC talked about the Kane investigation BOTH before the game and between the 1st and 2nd periods. Do it once and STFU.

Milan has to learn to get back to his old self, less talk and more action.

Looch and Dougie both off to great, identical starts of new season with their new teams.
Both 5-1 losers. Both a -2.
Looch will have a very hard time of it, especially after what happened to his father. It may have a very negative affect on the rest of his career.

According to everyone's favorite ref Kerry Fraser, the match penalty given to Lucic was warranted as Milan skated 85 ft to the Shart bench to deliver a forearm shiver to Couture's head. It was deliberate and not a hockey play, nor was it delivered due to a collision from a hockey play.

Steve Moore rule. You can't skate around behind a guy waiting for a chance to end his career....or push him.

I was really pleased that a certain ex-Bruin defenseman showed pretty well in that Calgary-Vancouver game. Couple of shots, couple of hits, a roughing penalty when he took the other guy with him....
Why did they let Matt Bartkowski go, again?

Nobody is getting through to Lucic that he is getting calls because of his rep now.

Exactly, what Milan did wasn't a hockey play, he chased Couture down and gave him a forearm shiver at the Sharks bench, premeditated . Now whether that's worth a match penalty is debatable .

That absolutely is a hockey play. I don't like what you did, so I'm going to get you back. And if you don't like it, don't do it again. That's 100% hockey.

The way the refs saw it though wasn't, it was a premeditated intent to injure. It happened all the time in the old days, not now though. Lucic doesn't like to get hit? It's part of hockey.

When was the last time it was even a thing outside of the wrestling ring?!? What's next...a facewash is good for 10 because he could have put the other guy's eye out?

Premeditated is buying a guy today to kill someone next week. Maybe it's stewing in the locker room and doing something about it next period. Reacting instantly to something isn't premeditation at all. And you want to hang him out with intent to injure? Isn't that exactly what Pavelski was doing? Big bad open ice checks are all about intent to injure. It's not done for the crowd and it's not done to get the puck. It's done to wreck the guy. You don't want to end a career, but that huge explosion of two forces coming together hopefully followed by a yard sale is 100% intent to injure. Intent to injure is part of hockey.

I think the "anything to the head" logic Fraser cited has a lot to do with it. If he goes over with the underhand crosscheck to the ribs, he probably gets 2 for crosschecking or roughing or something.
I'm very curious to see if the tea leaves are right, and, with a lineup at lawsuit central, the NHL is going all Roger Goodell with the supplementary discipline to show that they are taking the history of head injuries in the sport seriously.
I agree with NAS about this being a time-honoured thing. Big guys get hit in the legs all the time. I'm sure the threat of blowing out a knee and losing your career has a lot to do with the rage. Reading the comments on TSN, everyone's saying Lucic can't take being hit. I think he really hates being low-bridged, that's all. Iginla was a guy who wanted to fight every guy who got a lick in on him, but no one called him girl names.

Sure it is,happens all the time, but the way the refs saw it, Lucic chased Couture down, caught him 85 ft later and give him with a forearm to the head. They gave him a match penalty, maybe it will be rescinded on appeal .

He'll get a game at most, not 10. Milan has to learn to take a check, just like Emelin got him off his game, it seems other teams are maybe taking notice.
