Just wondering if anyone has the corona here. I personally don’t know anyone that has tested positive. I’ll be curious to know how people experience it.

No, but cases are just popping up in NS. The CEO of my wife's organization was actually one of the first cases here.

Not yet. Dont know anyone with it yet either. My wife works at the children's hospital and I'm in the policing world but in a plain clothes section. We are on standby to go back to first responder status

Thankfully, neither I or my loved ones have been infected so far. Also not aware of any friends or friends of friends contracting this thing. According to CityNews.ca, which was the last update I saw this morning, Ontario had 59 new coronavirus cases confirmed, bringing the provincial total to 377. 165 are in Toronto. I'm a grade 4/5 teacher here in the G.T.A. with a class of 34 roundheads. We'd normally be returning from March Break on Monday but the school board, along with the Ontario government, had a back-to-school date of April 6th in hopes of the virus being contained by then making it safe for kids and staff to return to school. I can appreciate that with my mob jammed into our classroom the way we are.
In a presser yesterday, the Education Minister couldn't commit to the projected return date of the 6th of next month, not with it looking like an hourly dice roll with the evolving management of the virus. Understandably so. With the daily increase in the number of cases, I think the government already knows April 6th is wishful thinking.
Stay safe, boys.

As close as I can come... At least one person in my town (pop 19,000) who attended the Biogen conference. Don't know the person.

Ya know, if somebody on this forum had it and died... well, I'm no doctor, but I am willing to bet it would really cut down on their posting. At lest from my layman perspective.

I don't think I had it.
Right before the hysteria began, at the very end of February, I got a fever, chills, body aches, cough and all that crap. I went to my doctor and they tested for the flu. The test was negative, and they said it looked like "a virus" instead. I asked halfheartedly about Corona testing and my doctor said they wouldn't even know how/where to test me. 'Keep an eye on your symptoms and stay hydrated'. Fever was gone by the end of the day, and the other symptoms went away quickly. I ran a marathon the next weekend, while still coughing some.
So, I doubt it, but that's the trouble. We don't even know here, unless you're so severe you go to the Emergency Room and get tested.

I am waiting to line up and be given this. Why not? I can plan to be down for a couple of weeks, sleep it off and be one step toward herd immunity.

I don’t have any of the risk factors that suggest even the more dangerous version of this would result in death. And fundamentally what I’m talking about is the natural version of a vaccine. Get it in a controlled circumstance and develop an immunity (though the doctors have been clear it would limited and last about 1-2 years). So when I say I am waiting, I mean that they need to figure out some kind of controlled conditions for people to get it and then be monitored and quarantined until they come out the other side. You know you’re going to get it, right? All of this won’t keep most of us from getting it like we get colds or used to get the seasonal flu before vaccines. We’re trying to control the death rate but limiting the exposure rate until we have the systems in place to help those who get the more serious version. But yer gonna get it.

I hate people, so not seeing anybody won’t be hard on my head. I can go out every couple of weeks for groceries and that’s it. I don’t need much sun. I’ll get a tan from mowing the lawn one hour a week.

Many who survive have reduced lung capacity. What blood type do you have? Did you have an easy time getting over SARS? Exactly. I'm not blood type A; for completely unrelated reasons, I recently went through a full heart and lung health testing and the verdict was I'm more likely to get hit by an asteroid than die from heart and lung related illness, and I lived in Toronto during SARS and had only just given up the darts a couple of years earlier. No ill effects - never tested to see if I had contracted SARS, though.

There's been a lot of concern over "community transmission" which basically means yeah, it's here now. I think a lot of cities are still able to avoid community transmission if they got an iso plan in place quickly, but we're still looking at February stars here. Maybe first week of March now. If your city has zero cases by three weeks after isolation was in place, you might have avoided this ... until they reopen things and then your city is going to get absolutely slammed.

This is not the level of kindness to others in a time of crises that the people of Canada's Atlantic provinces are known for.
