gryz is good. gryz is great. Let us thank him for our food. gryz is in fact the B's version of Billy Mumy (even a younger kid version) in that Twilight Zone episode where he wishes people into the cornfield when they don't agree with him. *Yes, Matt, it's sure a fine, fine day. And we like you.* seems to have that power over Sweeney/Monty.

Here are my two cents...
***You guys just can't see that Gryz is the new generation version of Don Sweeney. We all know Coke sucks and is bad for you, but it somehow is still around despite the obvious warnings.
***Geekie and Freddy have been awesome as of late. Both big fucks with decent set of hands that are not fancy dans.
***JVR and Shattenkirk have been great bargain basement players. Needed this badly with cash strapping of roster.
***TB is not the same without Killorn and Palat. Those guys were Bruin killers in more than oneDan's.
***I am more worried about Swayman when teams can go low to high and look for tip/deflection goals. The sheer size of Linus results in an extra save or two when these happen.
***People who constantly critique Lindholm don't know hockey. He is the best all-around D-man the Bruins have and it is not even close. MacAvoy is more flashy no doubt but he is sometimes out of position, caught up ice, or leaves himself vulnerable..

McAvoy gets the short end of the stick in the truest meaning of the words because he has to play with Graesslich. And Don Sweeney was way more effective on d than Grz. Agree with you on everything else, my Lord.

Yeah...playing with a so-so d-partner can suck, but I also think Charlie Mac needs to simplify his game a bit. He tries to do to much and is always on green light mindset offensively when yellow light is the better option. Simplification will also allow him to be in better position defensively that will minimize his risk to be in prone positions trying to recover (ie. crashing into the goal).
Also, agree 1000% that Sweeney is better defensively but was no Rod Langway and provided absolute zippo offensively. My comparison was the fact that he has been a Bruin mainstay forever despite flaws.

And I agree completely on the bold, I think Fiddy and I have talked about this a couple of weeks ago on this board too. CMc can be more effective when he adopts the "less is more" philosophy.

I sure can see that Gryz is the new Sweeney. Donnie played his entire B's career as the defence partner of Ray Bourque the Bruins #1 D at the time, same goes for Matt who's partner is Chucky, that's it short and sweet.
In regards to the Bolts they are still dangerous on any given night but just don't have the depth anymore, winning does that. The better players need raises and with a flat cap players leave for more money. In addition to Palat and Killorn, the Bolts have lost McDonough, Gourde, Coleman, Goodrow and of course Fat Pat Buffoon. I don't feel sorry for them and their "Covid cups" come with an * for me.

Especially when you read the comments from the Tampons after last night's game, like this one from Cooper:Or Tampons d-man deHaan: Now what is it? "We were better than the other team but they cheated because they scored more than twice as often as we did"?
It's okay if someone is confident in his team. But Cooper and the rest of the Tampons act like entitled brats at times. I'm sure they don't call them "Covid cups", or better yet, "the long-term IR cheating cups".

Sorry, not sweet at all, Fiddy, but really really bitter. I don't remember Don Sweeney ever looking so out of his depth as Graesslich does particularly in the B's own end. As I have posted in the "What will the next contract be" thread, I don't want a d-man who needs to be protected on my favorite team. Let's hope there will be no new contract in Boston for #48. The last time I was against a new contract for a Bruins defenseman was when Andrew Ference's got a raise in 2010. Boy, did he prove me wrong. Not a chance in this world that Graesslich will do that.

Of course Sweeney didn't look out of depth, his partner was a 5X Norris trophy winner, Chucky hasn't won a Norris yert here's hoping.

Sweeney was okay as a defenseman AFAIR, even when Ray wasn't in the lineup (I remember one particular home game with Reggie Lemelin in goal, they had made Garry Galley captain for that game, they came back from a 5-2 deficit or something like that against the Blackhawks).

I like a lot of this. I don’t disagree on Gryzz, but I’m gonna call the topic of Matt Gryzzlittleyk to be currently the most boring, overwrought thing in B’sville lately. My God Im sick of people’s obsession with this guy. Its not like he’s Dave Lewis or Chaim Bloom or something. 100% on JVR and Shatt. TB is not the same, but Kucherov and Point are mesmerizing, incredible hockey players. I find them must-watch hockey. I’d give the farm for them to be Bruins. Agree so much with the comment on the goalies. Maybe it’s because it’s noticeable in comparison because of how Linus benefits from his overall size, but Swayman is simply the smallest 6 2 goalie ever. There’s more space up top on him than most goalies, particularly when hes on his knees. Also agree on the excessive criticism of Lindholm. Love to see this as the Regular Freddy. What a treat. Rapidly becoming my Favorite B. btw, this is a scary road trip for this team. Other teams are getting hot and that perch looks shaky.

I think the problem is that both Gryz & Macavoy are primarily "puck moving defensemen" and they're playing together, rushing together and often getting caught up ice, leaving the other guy out of position. Maybe they're flying the zone to early? In many ways, they're making each other look worse than they are...
