The thing with Beecher is he has size and speed, but going back to his US junior national through to U of Michigan he's never been much of an offensive threat. His high point in any season is 9 gls and points 25 when he was 17 yrs. I have no idea what his ceiling is but i'm not expecting him to blossom into a big time scorer, 4th line could be his lot in the NHL, that's it that's all.

This all comes down to Beecher's ability to get better at this point. He's made the NHL to the tune of 35 games under his belt now. What's next? Can he get better, and is it going to happen under Monty. I sure hope so. Stats are gonna be a lousy way to evaluate this guy, because of the way they use him. Low minutes, on checking lines, and exclusively D-zone starts. Nobody would have good numbers with his assignments, so you really need to watch him to get a sense of how useful he is. He has some similarities to Frederic as a rookie, and you hope he improves his game the way Frederic has. Sweeney was patient with Frederic so expect the same. There were quite a few Bs fans that wanted TFred gone. Beecher is gonna need some time.

I"m fan of Beecher, he is good in faceoff dot, and the team needs that...so he earns his 10 minutes a game even if it's pk and faceoffs...don't need him to score right now.

I wanted Freddy gone after the 23 playoffs...but he has proven to be a better overall player and he did have a good regular season last season too, so clearly he's improved and clearly I was too impatient...with that said, he has 12 game 0 points career in playoffs, and that BETTER CHANGE in this coming postseason...he can't sit on 0 points in playoffs.

What's great about the B's is the size...that's really one of the main reasons they are on top of the standings and not just goaltending, Pasta, Marchand, McAvoy (all 3 so important to the team)...JVR (tall), Beecher (tall), Freddy (tall), Carlo (tall), Lindholm (tall), DeBrusk (tall), Coyle (tall), Zacha (tall), Forbort (tall), Geekie (tall), and Heinen is 6-2, which makes him the smallest of the group...So you can say oh, they aren't tough, they don't have those hard checkers--but kind of hard to get through these guys when they are playing well...you want to get through the B's? You better deal with the lack of space they give you if they are on the forecheck or even in defensive zone when they come up on all those skilled 6-0 and under guys...This is the biggest, tallest B's team maybe ever. Even the goalies are tall.

The reality is that a team should be thrilled just to get a solid NHL player after the lottery picks are gone. Frederic was a great pick as far as I am concerned and Beecher should also improve as he gets more experience. Coyle is another example of a guy that some fans expected bigger numbers from because of where he was picked. I personally think he's awesome and his contact is a bargain too considering all that he contributes to the team every night. He's actually still improving too. The Wild got fleeced on that deal.

Beecher has definitely fallen in Monty's mind. I still think he will be a good 3rd or 4th line NHL player, but I don't think he's much more than popcorn HS the rest of the season unless there is an injury.

I'd like to see him use that speed a bit better and maybe spring loose for some break-away chances a la Dan Paille. Like Paille, he likely lacks the finish to capitalize on many of them, but I think Beecher has that kind of speed. I'd also think that with a bit more aggressiveness with the puck he could get to a Sean Kurally level. Kurally was always a 4th liner for us, but a good one. Meat and potatoes, would occasionally snipe a wrist shot and brought it every night. No reason Beecher couldn't be at least that good. The thing with him is that he's kind of content with being a grinder and doesn't/hasn't shown that will to go out and score pretty much ever in his career. It's all mental with him. All the tools in the world to put up points, just not aggressive offensively by nature. He should have been lighting up college hockey but he plateaued as a third line defensive forward and relished the role. Good on him for buying in, but at the same time seems like he's a little too content with not continuing to develop offensively.
