Darn good question, jm. It's like choosing amongst virtual equals. Each guy has his own unique qualities, but, yeah, I pick Toews for his sheer offensive skill.
I don't watch a lot of Hawks games to get a read on Toews' leadership skills, but the commitment that Bergey brings to every shift is immeasurable in numbers.
Kopitar is kind of in-between the other 2 - a little better than Bergey on the stat sheet, and more central to LA's team character.

Toews by a longshot.... reminds me the most of the best all-around center i've ever witnessed Bryan Trottier.... I have this T-Shirt! Has gotten me lots of comments over the years!

Toews, though, yeah the contract would make me choose Bergeron. Can't really go wrong, though. That's not you...that's Elvis Costello. And I'm a fan but that particular song is meh at best. But I understand the narcissistic reasoning behind your choice

Wow, you're sure up on your music for a guy in his 90s, Mr. Schmidt. I agree - the source for the sig. line is not his best work. I suppose I could change that to "there's no room here for that middle skirt waddle"....

Considering one player was taken 3rd overall in the draft and one was taken 45th ,its a tribute to how good Bergeron is to be even considered in the same breath as Toews. While Toews might be better offensively,i find that him and Bergy are very close comparables on every other facet, leadership, defence and character. I could even go as far to say that Patrice is the better defensive player, but thats just me.

I would take Bergeron. His contract is just the icing on the cake. Also like that he only cost a 2nd round pick, while Toews was #3 oa and Kopitar was a #11 oa. I don't see enough of Kopitar to have a clear opinion, but I think he better score more than the 16 goals he got this year, if he wants to cash in big next summer.
