DeBrusk, no points last 9 games...and we are wondering if anyone cares to want to trade for him or even care if he is a B? His production this season is nothing short of awful.

Let me add that the 2 things that he did well now he doesn't even do that well...overtime and shootouts...he has sucked offensively horribly and while Gryz always is my whipping boy, I'm done with this guy...done with his sulking, done with his lack of production, done with his inability to play with anyone...he sucks.

The sad part is I love his game when he's on....and then he just let's us all down.

The sad part is I love his game when he's on....and then he just let's us all down. You need to lower your expectations for Jakey…. We’ve seen what Jakey is and unless he turns in a Conn Smythe-winning performance, it’ll be time for Donnie to cut ties and spend that money elsewhere…. For now Donnie’s hands are tied since he won’t get anything that can help the B’S down the stretch in exchange for an underwhelming soon-to-be FA….

Naturally he looked good on the B's goal in 1st period...always these threads ignite the players I rip...sort of my intention.

If the offer was insanely good I would trade him. But I don't think Sweeney will move him at the deadline.

If the offer was insanely good I would trade him. But I don't think Sweeney will move him at the deadline. Nope, doesn't make us better in the short term. The only way that happens is if he's picking up a talented winger to slot in that has some term. Sweeney has never moved us backwards at the deadline when we are contending and I don't expect that to start this year. I actually like Debrusk. He's an above average middle six guy. I don't think he's a top line winger because he doesn't create his own offense enough, but he's a good player on a good team and you need those too. He's as streaky as they come, but I think he's rounded out his game quite a bit to the point where he's still an asset even if he isn't scoring. Plus, I think the step or two backwards we took in centermen this year doesn't do Debrusk any favors. He, as much as anyone else on this team, is moved around the line-up and never seems to be allowed to settle into a line. When you put him with a talented playmaker though, he's a 25G+ player. Nothing to sneeze at.

Nothing to sneeze at. His 13 goal, 14 assist season has little to do with not playing with a talented playmaker and more about his bouts of zero offense. I found him floating and back to bad habits during that 9-game no point streak and I've said this a number of times--that DeBrusk and Lindholm are and have been keys to the B's success when they are activated offensively. When they both are not, the team has gone into funks. It's not a coincidence that this occurs. Lohrei may solve the Lindholm issue (i.e. 6 can play on PP and 6 can play OT and 6 can even be on a 6-on-5 late). DeBrusk's offense often equates directly to wins, maybe more than any other B's player not wearing 88. Root Beer can't go into funks, certainly not 9 games long, and as much as he does other things well-the giddy up in his step in front of his Dad has been sorely missed during a poor stretch by B's on the homestand. For chaps, I really like him too, I think a lot of us do...it's not about like as much as it's about production or just acting like a 25-goal guy instead of this lesser version in 23-24.

Root Beer's best game in a long time. He was motivated...to impress his Dad. Did you see the pre-game interview between the benches with Louis? They did a flashback to the last time the Bruins were in Edmonton and he was interviewed and showed Jake criticizing Louis's haircut. Flash forward and LDB asks JDB how his hair looks and he said 'not bad, but you're losing a bit of color'. LDB then reached in his pocket and pulled out something that JDB's mom dug out at home - a coupon/IOU that JDB wrote when he was about 9 or 10 (I think) that basically said that either he scores a goal or assist or JDB has to do 30 push-ups. Louis says, "I am officially cashing this coupon in" and handed it to JDB. Both of them had quite a laugh and Jake stuck it somewhere, skated away, and headed back to warmups. When deBrusk scored, his Dad said 'I guess he didn't want to do the pushups' and noted that when he made that promise Jake was a lot lighter(smaller). Funny stuff and different from the usual pre-game stuff. We should flood the Bruins mailbox with similar coupons for each game for the rest of the season...

For chaps, I really like him too, I think a lot of us do...it's not about like as much as it's about production or just acting like a 25-goal guy instead of this lesser version in 23-24. Streaky players are streaky - film at 11! I don't think most of the people I've heard talk about Jake recently agree that he's been floating. Beers was saying last night that while DeBrusk hasn't been scoring he largely HAS been doing the other things he does to help you win - back check, good on the PK, good speed on the forecheck - but he also said that let's face it...he has to score. Ultimately, he has to score. In that vein, I also can't say I've seen him sulking a la 2019-2020, and if his game has been weaker since the ASG, he's not the only one to be a little weaker after traveler's diarrhea. I wouldn't single him out. But he does need to score. Thing is - he's a career 0.58 points/game player, but if you take out his extended sulkslump, he's more like a 0.62. He's currently producing 0.49 points game. He'll max out at 80 games this year, meaning that to finish as a 0.62 producer, he needs 49-50 points or 22-23 in his last 25 games. Not likely, but possible if his PPTOI is sufficient. 19 points in 25 gets him to his career average. That's not that much higher a points/game than his season mark last year. Streaky player - sustain your positive streak! Point being, I think there's a good chance that DeBrusk produces something in the mid-40s for the year. As Sizz would say, though, regular season means bupkis. Get it, and go from there. And a lot of what DeBrusk brings is very valuable in the playoffs. Jake's got a decent playoff record. And let's not forget that in real cash, he makes less than Toby money. He's not a great value, but he's also not paid to be the bellweather for this team. If they live and die with his streakiness, to my mind that's an indictment on the guys who ARE paid to be "as they go so goes the team" players. I think he's still going to hit the 20 goal plateau, and I also think that his balance of goals:assists is going to tilt more to assists for the first time (outside of his sulkslump) since his rookie year. He's not being told to be a shoot first guy all the time and I think that's a good path for him.

Well his Dad wasn't wearing a Flames jersey the other night. Jake has improved his overall skill set to remain a Bruin as mentioned above. The streaky talent is not good. At his age any development in play should iron out to be labeled consistent. Then again so is Pasta on a different level. He has not signed a contract. It has bantered he should get a 6m short term contract. All that aside, he probably is worth more to the Bs this year than the coming years. If he is traded, then the return must be substantial enough to replace his play. This is most likely a two trade condition. In my opinion his game is not going to grow, he is what he is, an above average player who has good defensive play. Bs management should treat him as if he was an acquisition to finish out the year.
