Election comes 100+ days early. No voting restrictions here, no proof of citizenship to vote. Voting closes at midnight on 11/8

Is this the official arguments thread, haha? Unfortunately, we have something to add to the Paris thread each day. Don't forget America is so divided that we have four candidates getting a piece of the vote.

I think Trump is an asshole and a lier, and would most likely be a lousy President. And he would get my vote.
It's amazing that America was founded on democracy and equality and yet if Hilary gets elected, most of my life will be with a Bush or a Clinton in power. I'm passionately against ruling "families". As such, no Clinton.
Many of America's biggest problems are rooted in an upper class that have convinced the majority of the public ridiculous lies to benefit their own finances, at the expense of endless lives. Public health care is un-Christain. Gun control is un-American. Iraq is a threat because of 911. Baffling. But arms and drug companies are getting very rich.
As long as established Republican presidents will invade foreign countries to pad Halliburton's finances through weapons and rebuilding, they would never get my vote. And while Hilary will block oil pipelines because Warren Buffet owns train companies, I wouldn't vote for her, either. There's no point trying to pretend you're a candidate "for women", when you'll never speak I'll of the oppressive Saudi Arabia because they fund your campaign.
The biggest thing America needs is a president that isn't part of the establishment. It's too bad the good candidate isn't an option because his party's heirar

How to Spite Your Face: Instructions 1. Obtain sharp scissors, garden or hedge clippers, or a bowie knife; many towels or paper towels; a medical waste disposal bag; bactene - lots; Oxy. 2. Hold the scissors or other implement firmly in your dominant hand. 3. Hold the tip of your nose firmly in your free hand. 4. Bring the cutting implement up to your nose so that the blade or blades are nested firmly against the place where your nostrils meet your upper lip. 5. Cut upward through the cartiledge along the bone line. 6. [Optional] Yell "TAKE THAT, FACE!!" I find the arguments against Hillary venal, the ones against Trump deadly. I say that as an outsider with no horse in the race.

Our political system has become so incestuous that we need an abrasive outsider to have any chance of cleaning house. What's been been released this week (DNC rigging the primaries and having multiple media members from MSNBC/CNN/Politico in their back pockets) is something that happens in the first chapter of a book about a 3rd World dictatorship. I haven't ever been this bothered by our government even going back to the Iraq War or Bill Clinton lying under oath. These things that have happened threaten our civil liberties and free society and quite simply, the Democrats need to be defeated at the ballot box to pay for it.

So if you wanted a lawyer, you should get someone who never practiced law because they would bring in new fresh ideas and everyone hates lawyers - so don't hire anyone who has practiced law.
Same for Doctors and Dentists. And as for the most important office in the land? That's right, the guy who never practiced politics at any level should get the most important political job in the land.
The Republicans had this election for the taking with a wildly unpopular Democratic candidate and they allowed a buffoon to take it.
I understand Trump's appeal, but its the same appeal as the used car salesman with the deal that's too good to be true. What I don't understand is how those self same people wouldn't be fooled by the used car salesman, but Trump with most outrageous false promises of all is readily believed.
If Trump is elected, he won't shake things up, he will fuck things up royally. With his statements about 'playing with debt' and trade wars he will likely cause a worldwide depression.
I am honestly frightened at the possibility of Trump becoming president.

I am honestly frightened at the possibility of Trump becoming president. The other side of that argument is that after 15 years in and out of office and 30 in public life, what had Hillary done to: A. Suggest she will do better? B. Have left in the tank that she hasn't tried? This canard of being a "change maker" is truly laughable. Running on change, which seems to be a purely political platform to react to the desire for an outsider, is foolhardy after being a part of the party in power for the last eight years. That logic also runs contra to other counties that don't elect 90% lawyers; there is simply no career path to becoming the President. On a personal level, I won't vote for somebody so demonstrably corrupt. I might even vote for Obama (provided he sobered up about ISIS) over Trump, but this is a binary choice, and I'll pick a wildcard over a crook. The Trump Hysteria is really starting to bother me. People cannot even describe what'a so objectionable about him aside from a few dumb comments. If you look at the politicians he surrounds himself with (Gingrich/Giuliani/Christie) these are not business as usual, partisan bullshit Harry Reid/John Boehner politicians. Trump is a deal maker. One part of Clinton's speech (the real one) I enjoyed was his talking about working on legislation with Newt and Trent Lott. That was routine before Obama, and there's plenty of blame to go around. These people all need to be terminated, and who is better to say "you're fired?"

"Deal Maker" ? How do Atlantic City contractors and sub-contractors feel about Dumpster's contracts ?
The man just begged Putin to commit espionage on the US. You need to do some research HB.

Talk about corruption, Trump University is a outright criminal act. What's so objectionable other than a few dumb comments? Are you shitting me? I don't believe you're serious, you're just putting on this Trump show to get me wound up. Anyone with any reasonable knowledge of politics rejects Trump, and that includes many notable Republicans, the last 2 Republican presidents for example and the last Republican candidate.

What this thread proves is Canadians are just as confused as other North Americans with regard to who is the best Presidential candidate.

Bill was paid 16 million as a defacto head of a for-profit college and he's under investigation from the IRS. The original plaintiff of the Trump University suit has dropped her claim. UTrump was a Napoleon Hill/Dale Carnegie Institute knockoff not meant to be confused with an accredited university. Politics are cyclical. E ight years in, eight years out. And look, you Democrats really need to clean up your act when it comes to discussing politics. Nobody should be called stupid because of how they vote, and this smugness is a big dynamic that's worked in favor for Trump.

I would be happy to provide an argument tearing either of them down and describing their many glaring problems as candidates.
I would not like to try to write something in support of either candidacy. It's really hard.
I think Hillary should likely be indicted, is as pro-establishment as you can possibly get, and is personally unlikable. Yet, I'd swallow hard and pull that lever before I could pull the one for Trump.
I think she's less likely to make a glaring or irreparable foreign policy error, or throw away a fundamental American value in a moment of reactionary anger or insecurity.

As a dyed in the wool liberal and life long Democrat I have to agree with this. Certainly the most polarizing election I've seen in my lifetime. Certainly flawed candidates. And certainly the most important election of my lifetime and I would venture to say all of our lifetimes. There are people all over the world who are very concerned about what a Trump presidency would do to the planet.
