Looks like we can start this year much earlier than last, which is good because I'd like to gage the interest in switching platforms. ESPN has been going down-hill over the past few years. Should we switch to fleaflicker? www.fleaflicker.com/nhlCheck it out and I'd like to hear all you guy's input. Seems to be fairly customizable and has an app. I put a poll up on our ESPN site with a poll and would like you guys to vote there. I'll let the poll decide on ESPN'S fate... Live or die!

Before I vote. Will we be able to bring our keepers into the new league ? Retain our keepers ?

Before I vote. Will we be able to bring our keepers into the new league ? Retain our keepers ? Good question San. There is an option to import your old team. While I have not used flea flicker before, the plan is to make your teams identical when/if we switch. Same rosters and keepers, etc. We can look at tweaks to the scoring and such when/if the change occurs. I've looked at it a bit so far, and from what I see, the two biggest things are I don't see an option for hit points for forwards, maybe I'm missing it... And we can finally ditch the stupid snake draft.

Whatever platform works...my only real problem with ESPN was not knowing when they decided to combine weeks in a matchup (wasted a few transactions on that), and the stupid wait period on guys who were put on the injured list and trying to navigate in dropping a player and adding a player when you did have guys on the injured list. That and being signed out when you responded to a trade offer.

OC wants all his Bruins.

Also an interesting addition could be a taxi squad. Can choose players (rookies, 2nd yr, 3rd yr or all) to have on your no active roster... More of a dynasty league and could promote more trading, activity and options... Sounds interesting!

Fleaflicker is a bit of an unknown, but seems to have the same espn options and then some. No idea about glitches and other stuff...

So as there is no misunderstanding, Covid County would like to keep my keepers (we all worked hard to get the guys we have), but I will do as the rest see fit as far as platform. So if it's move to fleaflicker over ESPN, I vote the way of the Fantasy Party. As for the snake draft, I'm not a fan, puts too much pressure on you when you have 2 positions to fill in a span of a few minutes as guys are being swooped up. Just having a little break if possible between draft picks helps (or maybe too much time to think about it). It's all fun when it comes down to it.

Yup, I think we all feel the same way about our guys we have gotten our hands on over the years. You guys will stay your guys no matter what... We'll, except OC.. I think we will blow HIS team up.

Haters gonna hate. I'm good with whatever option is the best, ESPN pretty much cost me my season last year with glitches, and I'll check out the new option.
Question, why do we want to end the snake draft? That seems fairest to me.

Hey ladies, it's your defending champion checking in from the summer vag victory tour. I'm for keeping the espn format as is. I've heard mixed reviews about flea flicker, not enough for me to want to switch platforms unless there's a way to check it out and have the option to switch back to espn in case it sucks. I agree with OC that the snake draft is the fairest way to draft our guys.

Question, why do we want to end the snake draft? That seems fairest to me. For the initial draft, snake is perfect. Once you have the teams set and ranked the snake draft makes no sense. Worst goes first just like the NHL. The champ getting the first pick in round two makes no sense. We don't need the snake for the same reasons the NHL doesn't use it. Book worked hard at tanking his season... He shouldn't be punished in round 2 and then evey other round for the rest of the draft.

In the NHL they don't take away over half your roster at the end of the season. In our annual drafts there is usually a significant level of higher quality of the first 3-5 picks which were guys who could be keepers except the good teams have too many. That gives the sucky teams a boost, but I think after that it should be more even, as all teams lost players.

That gives the sucky teams a boost, but I think after that it should be more even, as all teams lost players. The way you answer the snake draft question has everything to do with where you are now. If you're good, you like the snake because every second round, you get to draft way ahead of the guys trying to catch you. If you're trying to recover from being managed by shupe, you're looking at the fact that the top 90 players in the league are never going to be available unless you nab an emerging star before someone else does. If you draft 1 and 10, you can draft an established star at 1 and take a flier on a prospect who might become a top 10 fantasy player at 10. If you're waiting until 18, someone with an already strong roster might take the prospect over a mid-roster player who's available. Fundamentally, drafts aren't supposed to be fair. They're structured to redistribute some of the wealth. That means yes, they make it harder on the best teams to maintain their existing advantage and easier for bad teams to become more competitive. That's the whole point. As Sizz said, snake draft is fair when draft position is random and everyone starts with an empty roster. No pro league uses the snake because it makes no sense for keeper leagues.

Teams that need to get better to compete get to do it with a good team's 10th best player.

Taking away a bunch of bottom half players isn't going be the great equalizer for all teams. You really think the Vag needs an advantage over Kelv, Schlichy and book every other round of the draft??

I'm not the initiator of this disagreement, you are. We have a perfectly fine system that most people in the draft world, including ESPN, agree is the best. You have arbitrarily decided you think it should change for no reason other than you don't like it. Basically you're Putin saying "I want Crimea", and I'm Zelensky saying "I don't want to give you Crimea, I think Crimea is fine just the way it is." And then you as Putin say stop being difficult and arguing. Change for change is generally a poor idea. We've seen a wide variety of champions, and wild fluctuations in the standings. Danny took the worst team and brought it to the very top in one season. Book took a respectable 5th place team and has since taken it to 9th, 8th, and then the very bottom. That's more on his dependence on tanking and analytics than on the snake draft. I don't see anything that says the system isn't working just fine.

Every draft in every fantasy sport no matter what platform or initial draft or keeper redrafts have always from what I've seen has always had snake drafts. Why exactly are we suddenly changing it this year? He's practically begging OC to see change his way of thinking on the draft format which in fact has worked for many centuries. I've drafted early, mid and late round and can tell you there's no clear advantage being at the bottom of each round. I still have to wait 9 picks before I get to select back to back but have to wait another 20. Honestly I'd rather pick 5th or 6th, right in the middle but because I'm so awesome I need to wait until end of rd 1. Sizz clearly has it out for me which is fine. He will do whatever in his power he can to make it difficult on the pesky badger. To change the draft format because you don't wanna give me "an advantage" as you say is shady. Leave the snake format alone, it works just fine, always has, always will.

Name 1 fucking time from inception I implemented a rule that the majority didn't want? Every semi substantial change was put in a poll.. And Now I'm fucking Putin? If the majority wants to keep the snake well keep it... So settle down drama boy. Im not suggesting just because it's there, it's because it's the most fair for existing leagues. The snake was created because it's the most fair for leagues drafting from scratch. Most fantasy leagues draft entire rosters on a yearly basis which is why it is most common. It most certainly is not the best in the draft world, fuck, it doesn't even exist in real sports. Like I said, it's perfect for a one year, start from scratch fantasy league since there is no established rank. So you think it is fair for the Vag to draft the first pick in every other round? I only mentioned ditching the snake out of fairness and a complete lack of option till now.. But despite this, as always, if the majority want to keep it, great we'll keep it... It will benefit me as long as I stay in the top half of the league, so great... And that makes your Putin comment even more stupid... I'm proposing a change that puts me at a disadvantage... What an asshole I am!! Feel free to explain to me why the snake should be kept in a keeper scenario instead of calling me Putin, if you want to add any actual substance to your side.
