I read several articles about the game and much was made of how the Flames knocked around the Bruins with particular glare on the B's lack of response or inability to in that department. I saw very little of the game but for those who watched in its entirety, was it really that bad? In reading our thread, it sounds like the homeside just were not into it last night.

My schadenfreude was aroused when i noticed that the Panthers & Canes both lost, and TO did the other night so all is not rotten! Don't worry, be happy, goodnight!! The Loaf fan crying post game videos outside of the arena were hilarious, Fif. Pretty much ran through the alphabet in their sorrow. I'm sure the Toronto Sports Media have made this point in spades, but that loss to the Isles meant that the Laffs were swept by a team that fired its coach recently. All three were one goal losses. The Isles are now just 4 back of the Laffs, who are in the first wildcard. Toronto still has two games in hand, though. There's a real chance that the Laffs miss the playoffs, and I'm here for it.

I saw very little of the game but for those who watched in its entirety, was it really that bad? In reading our thread, it sounds like the homeside just were not into it last night. I don't know. The whole team was brutal last night. DeBrusk had a couple of bursts where he had his legs, but it was almost comical how badly they played. Losing pucks, fanning on passes, handing over pizzas.... The puck looked sticky for them and flat and cold for the Flames. They played with very little energy right from the word go. Toward the end, there were a bunch of scrums and pushing and shoving, but one of the first ones was Toby reacting to a late bump into the boards. Everyone rushed in and it was all quiet. No need for actual messages to be sent. This was definitely one of those games where the leaders led, and it's unfortunate that they led the team off of a cliff. Pastrnak had about half a dozen plays that looked like drunk beer leaguer. Marchand looked like his conditioning was off. McAvoy looked like he was deeply bothered by all the criticism of Toby. I don't think I'd be a drama llama about whether or not the Bruins were unable to respond. I would say that they refused be drawn into the emotion of the game no matter how hard the Flames tried to give them the juice to win it. For about 2 min when the Flames took that second penalty high sticking Marchand, when they scored with the 2 man advantage and were just owning the puck all over the zone with 2+ of 5 on 4 before the stupid too may men penalty, you could see that pattern we've seen over and over again from this team. They tread water when they aren't feeling it. They have enough structure and goaltending and habits that even when they have zero energy, they don't cheat and open themselves up to a sound thrashing very often. This was that game - they got burned when they made effort/dumb mistakes that led to rush chances, mostly, and for all the Flame dominance of "possession" the Bruins were about another 20-30 seconds from making it 2-2. New game. And who knows with that momentum. But stupid penalty - lazy kind of stupid, not counting to six - and no second goal, a 4 on 4 goal, and then the whoosie from Sway and the effort was a complete turd. But once they lost that one bit of momentum, it was like they had nothing to give. Bag skate today should burn all the residual fun out of their systems. Back to work.

Been a while since I heard the word "fire" so often as in "Fire Keefe, fire Shanahan, fire Treliving." Big time cussing, too. I enjoyed the boil.

Watching the goals again and boy are they stinky. Kuzmenko goal is a 3 on 2 off the rush while the Bruins are on the kill because Heinen releases a guy before it dawns on him that there are already two guys deeper. Canucks execute the pass and score.Stop projecting tomorrow's events...

Seems more reasonable to what I read in the Herald, Boston.com and BSJ where specific takeaways were the B's were flat-out soft. What Mickey said in "Rocky" is how I want the club tomorrow.
