Play Sway it's a win, play Ullmark it's a sin.

Just hoping for the same level of execution as Game 1. And yes, play Swayman.

You know what? I want Montgomery to respond to questions about how they handle the goalies with "grow up." All the superstition and tradition around how they handle the goalies sounds more and more like a bunch of little old ladies gossiping at the hairdresser about what the fortune teller told Mildred. I mean, the only way to turn an organizational strength into a weakness here is to buy into the second guessing.
Among goalies who played 30+ games, they were 5th and 7th in s% and 7th and 9th in GAA. The difference was 0.001 in s% and 0.04 GAA. The Bruins should expect to get elite goaltending from either of their goalies when they play.
I say this no matter what they do short of what they did last year, playing a guy who clearly wasn't 100% when they had another elite goalie in the bench. That's not the same as this year. Both are healthy as far as we know. But both are pros. Their job is to be ready, prepared and focussed whether they get back to back starts or play once a week.
I don't consider one game a hot hand, and when the team plays the way the Bruins did on Saturday, I think Ullmark could have had the same stats. If they choose to go back to Swayman, great. He's been awesome against the Leafs. If they go to Ullmark, great; he's the reigning Vezina winner and again...marginally lower stats than Swayman this year. If Ullmark sits for a week and then Swayman has a bad game...so what? NHL goalies are expected to be ready whether they're starting or not. If they play Ullmark and he has a bad game...so what? If Swayman's "hot hand" dies if he misses one start, then it wasn't really that worth preserving.
All of the drama is picking fly shit out of black pepper. Trying to find some tiny incremental edge...and in the process getting so bent out of shape that any advantage you had is now lost to FOMO or FOWG Fear Of Wrong Goalie.
If I'm thinking about ANYTHING other than damn, are the Bruins lucky to have this tandem, it's that Swayman has never played more than 45 games in a year. Ullmark tops out at 55. Asking either guy to play every game of the playoffs is going to take them into uncharted territory if they go deep and series last more than 4-5 games. While neither guy is old or injury-riddled, and so you think they should be able to handle a full time grind of a game very two days for two months straight...we don't have evidence that they can do that and play at the same elite level. We do know that if they share the load, they have consistently both been elite statistically for two straight years. Over the last two years, Ullmark is first in both s% and GAA among guys who played an average of 30 games, and Swayman is 3rd in both categories.
I say screw superstition and expect them to be pros. Expect the whole team to come out with the same commitment to playing fast, finishing hits, and getting bodies to the net, and improve their concentration on getting the puck out and not making those soft plays at the defensive blueline that led to several Loaf reloads. If they do that as a team, I'm confident no matter who they start in net.

TO is gonna bring it in every way possible but the boys can definitely do this. Keep putting pucks to the net -- especially from the point. Some will eventually sneak in and others may produce rebounds. And let the TO cement heads continue to occupy the penalty box with stupid moves. Nylander still questionable -- be ready either way.

In the rotation we trust.
I really think this will keep the goalies fresh and as on schedule as they have been for a hundred plus games.
What is more important than the rotation is the B's team play... Both goalies are not guaranteed wins just because of the rotation. If the team plays like they did and Linus plays like he can, I like our chances.

They chose to have them, so fuggin use them! And use them right!
