The more i think of it the B's couldn't have faced two more defensively minded teams to open their sched than they just did. I won't predict that the floodgates will open against the Flyers but they will score 5 v 5, count on it. Swami 50, right there.

Studs first 5-5 DK Ritchie apples Rask superb ot and so Ritchie scores again. I am liking his game DK 2a JD is getting back in his groove. After so winning goal maybe he scores now Liking most things about D Mac Truck needs to keep on trucking. Loves it z could be fun. Getting big mins with Miller
Carlo Grizz not getting it together. Carlo least minutes, maybe he is hurt, he has lost his edges a few times. Need a new skate guy Cassidy fuck off with your binkies. 6 different scorers now Kuraly is not one of them and I near threw up seeing him on the ice not once but twice in ot. Wtf Try Senyshyn on 4th. Very tired of wags and Kuraly
Monkey is gone after 13 periods, thanks Captain Jack. Now put him out in ot, we are 0 for 3 in this department. Jack would make far more sense than Kuraly in ot I would go back to Rask again

As I sip my morning tea and muse about all things Bruins, clearly the PP does not miss Krug. Over 23% so far, and without Pastrnak, the league's best PP shooter. Throw him in, and it's probably better than last year. Ritchie could make it better.
Size matters. I'm not a big guy fanatic like Goat, but I think it has its place. The Bruins have become far too small the last few years. Kevan and Zboril on the back end can both skate and hit, and push and shove. That's a good thing. Comparing that to the third pair of Gryz and Clifton last year, it's an upgrade, and I like Gryz and Cliffy. But KandZ have shown they can pass, skate and shoot, too, so it looks good so far.
Adding a few big bodies up front is good too. Frederic can get in your face, Ritchie's doing what he should do, and Studnika and Smith can mix it up and grind too. We've seen 4 games so far, and 3 have been absolute defensive chess matches, while against Philly it was dirt goals that turned it around. Ritchies net front pp tally, and Stud's net drive. Good signs that the team might be slightly better able to handle these kinds of situations.
Overall the team seems faster.
I think Kase may have a hard time getting back in the lineup when Pastherneck is healthy. Studnika and Smith bring more of what the teams needs. Kase has shown some great razzle-dazzle, but with him not being a first unit PP guy, and guys like Studs and Smith having good hockey skills on top of more sandpaper, I just don't know that there's a place for him in the lineup.

Definitely not a big guy fanatic, but not a little guy lover on D that get easily pushed around by opposition fwds neither. z is not huge but definitely is not shoved around like Grizz Krug or even Cliffy(can hit but definitely gets man handled too easily in corners) I can't wait to see more hits from the MacLo partnership, and even the Kayz pair, but, doubt to see any of that from the CarMatt (GrizzCar, BraMatt, GrizzBra, MattBrand-eh fuck it) combo Studs needs to stay in the lineup, to keep his upward curve moving. Kase needs to play for showcase. Wags and Kuraly can go, make the 4th fast with Fred/Bjork Studs(c) and Senysh, may not have as much hitting(wags hitting usually harmless anyways) but the D side can be good and the PK better. Fred Studs Senysh all have done well on pk and Bjork is starting to get more time there. Better speed and talent on 4th might create more goals and I won't have to see Kuraly or Wags play, let alone move up the lineup nor in OT. Noone wants wags or Kuraly , not even on waivers.

Really like what i'm seeing from Zboril so far and Lauzon has been a good fit with Charlie, overall the defence has been solid. Up front i'm getting a bit tired of Bjork's inneffectiveness and judging from Cassidy's benching of him in the 3rd he might be as well. A taxi squad callup could be in order.

It was bound to happen but after 2 periods tonight i was beginning to wonder myself. I was literally sad after the 2nd period. It's been tough to be a Boston pro sports fan of late. Watching the Pats get embarrassed by a few teams and having turn your head to not see another Cam Newton turnover or bounced pass was rough, watching Brady go to the NFC title game with Gronk was rough, and the Sox were very hard to watch in the Pandemic season of 2020--shadow of the '18 team and a rollover for good pitching, which the Sox had virtually none other than Martin Perez and the kid that came up--Houck. So here I am defending the B's and my brother is saying "they are unwatchable" and I'm like without responding thinking, "fuck, what if he is right?"....It was that dire, and then the floodgates opened, which has happened so often at the TD Garden over the years...2-0 deficits gone within a few minutes, 2 goals scored in a hurry (happens so often for the Cassidy B's over the years), lousy breaks and dumb penalties by B's (also part of the equation especially in wild games where they fall behind and come back), and then late heroics...in this case, Rask ridiculously awesome and then the shootout...both times, it just took the one in the 3rd round to finish it...Sweet...Fun game to watch, entertaining and at least for the time being got that 5-on-5 problem off their backs and maybe back to viewing them as a key player in the playoff hunt.

Bjork needs to go, he is becoming a liability...Studs had some issues, then seemed to get going with DK/Ritchie working hard around him (yeah I said Ritchie). There were some d issues yesterday, some sloppy passing and missed assignments in the 3rd period ,and I wouldn't mind seeing Cliffy Hockey make his entrance into the d pairings. Not necessarily due to an injury, but I don't know how to insert him without it taking out Zboril, who can skate better and has more size (or Lauzon, who I think has played better than Zboril). Cliffy is physical and hungry, so I would not be afraid to insert him.....finally, Sean Kuraly can be replaced...if he doesn't know this, or the B's brass don't think that, I would be surprised. Certainly getting tired of his antics, his bad penalties last 2 years, his weak play on the 4th line (much better 2 years ago, almost the top of the line type 4th line forward back then), and I don't get him. He can make plays but he also turns right around and kills you with a bad play/pass in his own zone.

They are definitely getting babied, but they are also looking very, very good. And I want a oft injured returning Dman with a rookies minutes low. Feed them more later. He got smoked in OT, Rask saved his bacon. I tend to not get too negative when a dman gets burned with so much open ice 3v3. But I also want the rookie to learn from the experience as well. Don’t let it happen again. PS. side note Miller and Kuraly should not be on the ice 3v3. Channeling Herm Edwards.

PLD getting horrible time and mates from Torts. Sat him part of TB game
Might be easier to get him if Torts is not going to utilize him

Kuraly is making me yearn for the following: Riley Nash, Joakim Nordstrom, Noel Acciari...he can join Mr. Moore in the balcony seats the way he is playing. He is undisciplined and makes me ill when he coughs up pucks or worse gets beaten in a 1-on-1...tired of his antics.

He's got a great motor, and this team has a tendency to go to sleep or lull opponents into sleepy games. Someone needs to flip the switch for them from time to time, and Kuraly's been the guy on many occasions. This year, though, he's one of the worst for not being 'on'. He's taken 4 penalties and while some of the them have been pretty chintzy, he just can't do that in the tight games. He's been on for too many goals against, too. That's one of the things I really hate is a 3rd and 4th line that take minuses. They don't need to score ridiculous numbers, but they can't be responsible for losses in tight games if the top two lines have worked to create offense, and they can't be the reason the other team can go into a shell and protect a lead they got by exploiting the mistakes of the bottom six. That was the biggest flaw with last year's bottom six - not only did they fail to generate many goals, they gave up too many. So far, Frederic has been the star of that line in my eyes ("star") with Wagner kind of a non-entity and Kuraly playing with fire. Might be time for visit to the press box.

Kuraly is playing with matches, and burning his fingers in the process...if that's what you mean by "playing with fire." Frederic, absolutely agreed has been terrific out there, and I have no idea what Wagner is doing...I think he really misses Acciari--those 2 had fun together.

Maybe take Frederic and play him with Alias Smith and Coyle...screw it, let's have a third line clicking at all cylinders....the 4th line is the weakest link...good-bye!
