Comtois this season- before he got hurt was playing worse than Depuke & that's pretty hard to do! I've watched every Duck game this year, because I have 4 Ducks in my pool. Comtois was one of them, then I dumped his useless ass after 8 games & got Isac Lundestrom! Boeser would be nice, but Hertl would be the ultimate. Huh, I didn't realize Comtois was playing THAT badly. His rep was always high motor, leader type from his days on the WJHC, but then so was Curtis Lazar's. I think Boeser is an achievable goal in this. Sweeney has some pressure because the team is mediocre and the trade demand went public, but Benning has Vancouver trying to rip his balls off with a rusty rake. On the one hand, that means he might be reluctant to lose a trade in the public eye even if it plays well enough on the ice, and surely that would be the case if it was one for one. But on the other hand, Benning might find it hard to make moves now and decide he NEEDS to make one even if it's a perceived loss just to do something. But their season is lost and there's a chance ownership would fire him if he tries to make a sketchy move. There's a chance this could all break the Bruins way, though, so Boeser is kind of the gold standard here for me. I'd then look at Hertl later in the year, when the Sharts will have to shit or get off the pot. I heard Senyshen has a couple hatty's in the AHL......Senyshen+Debrusk = Boeser? And then Sweeney can pretend he got one right in 2015

The first 170 games of DeBrusk's were very good the last 100 not so much. He did nothing in the last half of 19-20, before Covid hit. He's making $4.85M this year, so I think it was inevitable that he was gone. I'm sure the other teams in the NHL think they can recover the earlier version of Jake. The Bruins don't exactly have a great rep with respect to young players. Jake will just join the long recent list of Hamilton, Seguin, Wheeler, Kessel, ThorntonInteresting you lump these guys together here. Other than Wheeler (who helped bring Boston the Cup in 2011 by being traded for Rich Peverly) none of those guys ever really had the drive to match their talent. And Wheeler wasn't that great until he got to the 'Peg. I'd definitely lump DeBrusk with this crew, I'm not sure any of them ever really 'got it' when it comes to doing whatever it takes to win.

Someone in the comments on Fluto's The Athletic article suggested Colin White from Ottawa - also a 1st rounder from 2015 who is underperforming. Thoughts? Lauzon ($850 K)has been scratched recently and Donskoi ($3.9M) a RW has been average so far. How about those 2 for DeBrusk, Moore, and B's throw in a 2nd round pick. Also clears almost 1.7 in cap space for re-signing Rask. A underperformer in the 1st round of 2015? Don't we have them all already? Our 2015 picks aren’t underperformers. They were poorly rated when we got them, and they still are.

This week the Bruins have apparently hit rock bottom with the Wings flying past them in the standings.
And tonight the Red Sox big move was to trade their 30+ HR hitting Gold Glove finalist RFer for a return of the (literally, .163) worst hitter in the Major Leagues.
There’s no hope in Beanville.

If I'm Donny I'm listening to offers for literally anyone outside of Bergy. And yes, that includes Pasta and Marchand. Obviously the return has to be legit and forward looking. The bloom is off the rose. It was a good run. If you're dead serious, you keep Pasta and trade Bergeron.
I think the inkling of any talk of moving either of these players is beyond insanely ridiculous! Get a grip!

Trading Bergeron would be the end of whatever “identity” this team has left.

Trading Bergeron would be the end of whatever “identity” this team has left. Correct. It would. But even as a Bergy worshipper, that doesn't mean it would be the wrong move in the long term. Not saying it's the right thing to do either. It would definitely signal the end of a great era. What I would worry about if they did a real rebuild is that Sweeney and Neely do not appear to be high end, long term talent evaluators. I.E. If you're gonna rebuild you need to do it right. I don't trust that they could. The thought of Coyle as Center 1 during this transition sends chills down my spine.

Well, Gorton and even Chiarelli have each recently landed very high profile executive roles, and both, in retrospect, would be far superior to what the Bruins have now. Given Jacobs’ past moves if the team misses the playoffs this year that’s likely it for Sweeney; who knows about Cam but for the right executive(s) I’d like to see a housecleaning.

I want to see the thread saying where JDB is going and what we get in return. I'm tired of this shit already.

I thought they should have traded Chara too (not sure of any no move contract clauses) before he left for nothing. It’s not personal. It’s only business. Like Chara, personally, I would hate for him to go to another team no matter how it happened.

"It's not personal, Sonny...it's strictly business". That said...Bergy in another uniform would be a brutal thing to have to fathom.

I read the Less Canadians are considering cutting their losses with Gallagher, Petry, Toffoli, Anderson, and Chariot who are not in the rebuild mold. Gallagher would be a excellent short term sollution to the 3C or maybe the 2C. Who knows, as the Bs identity is really not evident right now. I have come to understand the Bourque trade in the way back machine, after all JJ jerked him around. Bergeron though is simply a professional of the likes of Jean Beliveau. I think he will do a Recchi and hang on through a couple more years. Chara was helpful to McAvoy and Carlo, why not Bergeron the same to others to come along.

10 points in 23 games at $6.5M AAV, just under $40M total, until 2027. Not sure he's the snipah I would like.

Why? If we are in true rebuild mode, I think Pasta gets a better return than Bergie would at this point in their respective careers. Plus I don't think the fan base could stomach trading one of the greatest players in our history.

Not sure why Jake Debrusk asking out would suggest they would want to rebuild.

And then he went right back to not skating after that. He looked just like "I've proven myself to be a superstar, so I'm going to take the rest of the night off." Frustrating as hell to watch.

To be fair, Sacco must've seen something he really didn't like. I think he only took one more shift the rest of that period and had just over 10 minutes of ice time total. They basically stapled him (and Frederic) to the bench. His "take the rest of the night off" wasn't really his decision. Speaking of...Frederic is very quickly playing his way to a minor league career. Maybe it was not responding in kind when Bergy was getting roughed up, but 7:03 of ice time means you're doing something pretty bad out there.

True, maybe they're not thinking about a rebuild at the moment, but a look across the league at the top teams vs. our current roster suggests it may not be too far off. Hate to lose any of the players you mention, but the reality is if and when a rebuild is in the works, in order to obtain top new assets, at least one of them will be in the mix. It will be a sad day but, you gotta give something to get something.

Man the way teams are banging Bergy around with no push back by his teammates is an embarrassment to the jersey. What a sad state when Brad Marchand is not only the top scorer but the top enforcer when it comes to protecting the captain. Bergy won’t admit it but he must be wondering where is the help when he’s being whacked and hacked. I mean the rest of the league got to know that there is a green light to beat on Bergeron and Pastrnak as there is no longer a consequence. I don’t care if your Frederic or Gryzlik you got to step up when Bergy of all players is being abused. I know points are tight so you want to avoid the penalty box but but for Christ sakes it’s not like we’re out of the playoff race and they have like 60 games left. Don’t have to goon it up just step up to protect Bergy while he once again drags their sorry asses (Marchand excluded) into the playoffs.

One of the main reasons I throw the Kassien DeBrusk trade out there is for team toughness. He plays a pretty good simple game, can score a occasional goal but will stick up for a teammate when needed. Foligno-Frederic- Kassien. Haula-Nosek-Lazar not a bad bottom 6 with roles to play.
