Is is true that he is no longer the announcer of the Bruins? I know he was taking a few days off but I saw an article to say it was permanent. I hope it is not health related. As much as he is polarizing, his homerism is a rare skillset in a market dominated by impartial, always safe, drab announcers.

health related...faust will at least not be slow...but he may also fit that drab, safe part.

I would be surprised if it's permanent. Saw at least one thing that said it was planned for a long time.
Maybe he's just getting a hair cut finally?

That's what the Real Jack Edwards used to sound like (one of my favorite Jack Edwards remarks). He's a homer, but he's our homer. Get well soon, Jack!

B's losing identity on and off the ice now. Yeah, i find Alex Faust, while he presents the game clear and concise is in a word, boring.

He does his job quite well, just the same as any other run of the mill nobody who I basically tune out mentally out of boredom. Jack wasn't perfect by any stretch, but he sure as hell wasn't boring!

Didn't care for Faust when he was Kings announcer...like I said, keeps up with play, but bland.

I liked Alex Faust. Much better than Jack. I did NOT think Alex was the least bit boring. I get my excitement from what's happening on the ice. I think he's earned a spot.

Honestly, it's to each their own, my brother likes Faust too...Maybe he will grow on me, or maybe I just have PTSD from Jack's rants and crazy expressions, followed by his slurring and butchering of names in his sad final chapter as a PBP guy. As Hulot I think and a few others noted, Jack was actually pretty good back at the start to middle of his NESN run...he just got too cliched and then the slowness happened---really not much different than Emrick, who to me was like listening to nails scratching on a chalkboard like Quint in Jaws...I'll watch him again next game and see if it's different for me. There is a boring nature to his delivery....but again, one person's perception on that could be another's completely different based on a number of factors.

Faust calls the game as it happens, unlike Jack nowadays, but is missing the excited inflections calling the perceived big plays. You’re right about Emerick, hated his call myself. You could never leave the room and follow the game listening to his dumb “insights”. There is an article in today’s herald about Jack coming back Saturday. Faust told the audience the same during last game.

If I was NESN I'd see what Dave Goucher's contract situation is.

Article in the Herald that Jack posted on Twitter (X) that he’s “healthy and fit” and finishing up a family vacation and will be back after they lose to Ottawa and Philly.
Haven’t heard the new guy because they aren’t worth watching right now, so no comment on him.
I’ve loved Jack. Loved his bias and unabashed homerism and yes, occasional unprofessional comments. The whole world has lost their character and everyone is afraid to say something that might offend, so everyone is painfully boring and no one has a sense of humor any more.
That said, I believe Jack is ill and he’s not doing his legacy any favors hanging on too long. Emerick had a sharp decline, too. Sometimes you can’t skate any more. (Ask me how I know)

(Ask me how I know) IMHO the worst decline had Bob Cole. Sometimes he sounded like he didn't even know in which city he was...

Something's wrong with him, it may be none of our business, but he has been slow and slurry for a while now. I see nothing wrong with Alex Faust. He knows his stuff and he's on top of what's happening on the ice. If Jack comes back and continues to regress, he needs to quit.

He's been regressing for quite a while...I don't think this is for debate...he is done as a PBP guy, but he's a hanger on...and he just needs to call it quits for everyone's own good. Faust takes over to finish out year, but have a real audition next year for a new PBP regular...I've had the privilege to work with several announcers over the years in all sports, and one thing I learned is when a guy loses it, they lose it...very few have held up over the years--Scully did, Bob Miller did (Faust's predecessor for King), Dan Kelley was incredible, Cusick loved his call, and Sam Rosen (Rangers) just to name some, but Edwards appeal is gone. Yes, super honest, super homer, had his moments of hilarity--but I'm tired of his hyena laugh as he can't spit out words, why is he laughing? It's not funny anymore to hear him even butcher his own cliches....even NESN figured out to use Brickley SOLELY as the post-game Monty Interview because it's a short one and viewers didn't have time to listen to Jack take half of Monty's 90 seconds trying to ask one stupid question.

I don't think NESN will just let Jack continue on as he likes, slowly getting worse as time goes on. If he doesn't improve, then i don't see him coming back next season, they can't be blind and deaf to whats going on.

I think Jack (who, according to Wikipedia, is about 66 years old) wants to continue and celebrate his 20th anniversary as NESN's Bruins play-by-play announcer in late September 2025. If the ratings don't take a nosedive and if NESN's not getting floods of mail about Jack's issues, they might let him get to the top of that mountain.
