Folks might also enjoy the documentary "Once In A Lifetime:The Extraordinary Story Of The New York Cosmos." The subheading reads "Goals. Greed. Girls. And That's Just The First Half...That football club of Ghinalia, Pele, Carlos Alberto, Franz Beckenbauer were serious chick hounds. I saw them play here in Toronto vs the Toronto Metro-Croatia years ago. Outstanding sports documentry.

Ha-Ha! This thread is more entertaining than watching a soccer game. Hey I can evaluate athletes, through looking at you tube highlights and reading box scores, as much I want and you should respect that please. Gosh!

How about the 2016 Euro in France? Not likely.
On second thought, though...

Sergio Ramos looked rejuvenated during the Champion's League final against Athletico. Might've been the best player on either side.

They need all the rejuvenation they could hope for after the World Cup. The goalie is embroiled now in an underage sex party scandal...I wonder if Guy Lafleur's kid was involved?

Yeah, I saw that about Man U's DeGea. Quite a couple of years for him, he, henry? Was it last year or the year before he was transferring out of the Premiership and joining Real Madrid? Then he wasn't leaving. Then he was. Rumours fly in the EPL especially around the transfer window.

That puts me in for a few surprises; in the first game of the World Cup, when Spain went up 1-0 it was business as usual, then the next five goals happened. Then the next game they lost to Chile and their tournament was over before it began. I did hear that they went with an aged lineup out of respect, so maybe they have a decent shot this year. No more Xavi, which is kind of lousy. Soccer players hit their sell by dates early.

Of the evaluations I've read by the likes of former stars and BBC people like Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Gary Lineker, most are picking home side France to take the title with the under-achieving Belgians as the outside shot.

The English give up a goal in injury time to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! 1-1 tie.
Michael Ballack is on the ESPN panel. Why is the NHL the only league that televises Kypreos, Hrudy, PK Stock, Keith Jones etc?

Another guy i absolutely loved as a player, was the engine that powered those Portuguese teams. There was a Euro or WC, i can't remember which right now, that Portugal made the semis and it was mainly because Figo had a standout tourney. I'm curious now i'll have to look it up. *Edit- it was both, 2004 Euro & 2006 WC, oh so close for Portugal, but Figo was brilliant , more so in the 2004 Euro.

Leave it to England to fuck it up against a B division quality team, totally unacceptable result, but so totally fitting. *Edit- As far as the quality of broadcasters on NHL broadcasts? I can only say that the NHL doesn't have quality control, Sportsnet sucks from top to bottom.

Thinking of Fifa 04 on PC...Batistuta maybe. I know I liked saying his name in the English accent of the computer commentary. Dennis Bergakmp? Might have been earlier. Francesco Totti for Italy, Del Piero. Michael Owen, Beckham. Fernando Morientes. Half of those guys got signed by Real Madrid. Exciting stuff. Imagine a team that had Crosby, Seguin, Patrick Kane, Benn, Subban and every player that could put on a show-and rooting against them? Marinaro had a great rant once to a caller that complained that he spent fifteen minutes of air time talking about the Champion's League. "You think the Champion's League is boring? You just watched a 2-1 game of Michel Therrien dump and chase hockey and you think that's more exciting than the final with all the stars?"
