The English give up a goal in injury time to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! 1-1 tie. Michael Ballack is on the ESPN panel. Why is the NHL the only league that televises Kypreos, Hrudy, PK Stock, Keith Jones etc? Do you really like Ballack? Why? Efficient German analysis. Not a word is minced.

They need all the rejuvenation they could hope for after the World Cup. The goalie is embroiled now in an underage sex party scandal...I wonder if Guy Lafleur's kid was involved? Maybe Carey Price as well? And of course Jean Beliveau's niece...

First of all I think he has no business being a "pundit", since his delivery is extremely stiff, but there have been (and still are) worse "experts" than him on TV, I give you you that. But he doesn't really bring much to the table in terms of insights either. Plus IMHO he was grossly overrated as a player - no wonder ESPN fell for him.

Another calculated, ball control, patient game by Spain. No worries, kept at it as the Czech's tried to hold on for a draw, but alas, no such luck. Iniesta is da bomb! What a player.

Iniesta and Xavi was like having Crosby and Yzerman up the middle. I just watched the highlights, there was a grand total of one highlight from the Czechs. Spain need a real striker, that game could have been four or five nothing. The later rounds won't be so forgiving. If they make it to the finals I'm going to Miami to Delicias de Espana or somewhere. It'll be interesting to see a crowd get that rowdy in Spanish-aside from that time in high school at the Loop in Methuen where we had a brawl with a couple car fulls of Puerto Ricans!

Gerry Dobson on Rogers Sportsnet. Just brutal. How that human embodiment of Howdy Doody lasted so long on the air is unexplained. That he's retiring is a good thing.

Nice to see that Russia is determined to stay in the stone ages, at least off the pitch:
Russian parliamentarian Igor Lebedev urged his country’s football fans Monday to keep up the fight against rivals, hours after the Euro 2016 governing body threatened to disqualify his team from the tournament as a result of a violent weekend brawl against Britain.
“I don’t see anything wrong with the fans fighting,” Lebedev, also a top soccer official in Moscow, wrote in a tweet Monday. “Quite the opposite, well done lads, keep it up!”

Nothing on the Copa? U-S-A! U-S-A!! Look out for Argentina. Yeah, they're definitely the favorites going forward. Messi is beyond any superlative. It should be a good show on Thursday night though. I.. Believe..That..We..Will..Win!

Team USA wins. GOOD!!!
Hooliganism at the EURO 2016.
And another remake of "The Disgrace of Gijón", again featuring the Germans, this time against Poland and their supremely incompetent forward Arkadiusz Milik.

2-0 after a half for Spain. Nolito has 5 goals in his last 11 international matches. They need a goal scorer almost as bad as the Canadiens.

One thing I dislike about soccer is that with the teams playing for ties, admitting defeat and rolling over, and diving, there's a character deficit.

Whats the big deal? Yogi ate some boogers, Geez, soccer games are 90 mins long, with stoppages and injury time added in, a guy can get hungry. Its not like he can run out and get a brat! Sniffing his own armpits, balls & ass?! So what, sometimes a game doesn't provide the creative flair to keep a guy interested and checking his personal "aroma areas" to see how his deodorant stacks up is ok in my book. There is nothing worse than going into a post match press conference with stinky armpits! Nothing! Well except maybe stinky balls, give the guy a break!

Sorry Henry, but Ballack is not good at this at all. He's merely stating the obvious.
