I erased what I did for a living after writing a lengthy post. Here's why, I come off as an older white guy who was wronged his whole work life due to affirmative action. It affected how I went from one part of a business to the other and it caught up to me to the point where I was branded a racist by my place of work the last 33 years because it was my institution's convenient way of covering up corruption in the hiring of my current boss. Other than that, can't complain. Worked in Athletics/writing/media/sports my entire work life other than starting out as a "Kelly Girl"...no, not a girl, but that's what they called the temp agency when I was a young buck. I should just erase this again. I'm really good at my job, one of the best in the industry, but it doesn't matter when it comes to politics at work.

You should have identified as a girl named Kelly, then affirmative action would have helped you!

Do you guys want to do another Zoom? I'm open to it myself. If only to virtually real snort oxy/fentanyl with the OC. Canada's Taylor Kitsch (a helluva ball hockey player) did a great job as an addict in Netflix PainKiller mini series on Oxy/Perdue Pharma. Matthew Broderick was good too as was Clark Gregg, who was awesome as the alter ego the original villain Arthur Sackler.

I’ve been done since March of 2012, 34 years as a foreman and production supervisor mostly in industrial paint and powder coating applications. Then 10 years in the retail grocery business. I’ve worked with a lot of paints and a lot of degreasers and solvents especially. Cancer stuff. I have osteoarthritis. And I walk funny. I have a pacemaker. After 65 years I gave up hunting big and small game. I had a mini stroke in April of 2021. I have an old dog and a good wife of 54 years . But I still like seeing the sunrise. There is always somebody worse off.

It is uglier now than the last time.

Creating a Zoom is easy and I could simply place the link with no password, no waiting room...if you did want to do a Sunday afternoon? Something like that then we need to find a workable date for those that want to participate. So I have no problem Nas-heading it but again kind of have to poll people and not everyone on this Piece of Work thread comes to the Random section either. Thoughts moving forward?

Afternoon for you or for the rest of us? Most Sundays around 4pm eastern works for me, but the next few are a mess. Maybe closer to the start of the season? Or the Sunday just before the pre-season kicks off? NAS being NAS, I think the previous call was by invitation. Could work backwards from there and PM people?

I don't even remember now

For kicks I just signed in on my app, ya know, for practice and to see if it still works. It does. But of course it said no meetings scheduled at this time. Last time I used it was about three years ago when my son was at his house with my daughter in law’s parents. We had a meeting of sorts. Guess I am willing to give it a go if I am able on the decided date. We shall see. I am in Chambersburg Pennsylvania, check it out on Google Earth. As said before, I don’t get their games on a regular basis. Penguins and Capitals market. During the Civil War the Rebel army burned the town. Right now there are about 20,000 people living here.

I had a premonition when I posted this thread that it would be bad luck and sure enough a week after I posted the thread I got laid off. Management said contract was ending due to budget cuts even though my company had won the contract for 8 straight years. HR tried to help place us in new jobs and I heard that 2 people got hired by another contractor pretty quickly. I applied for a position and sure enough I had an interview with the hiring manager and an offer within a few days. Turns out there weren't budget cuts our company which was the prime ln the contract got outbid by the sub to us. So i got hired by the sub because I was needed to continue working on the project. So I start my new job Monday with a 20k increase and severance and vacation pay from my previous employer.

I've been in Backup and Storage for the past 17 years, did desktop/LAN a few years prior. Worked as a full time cook at T. Anthony's (they sold the place last year) from '81 to '98 (if you've been there, there is a good chance you have met me). Worked part time weekends there for years until 2018. Thus the Terrier rooting. Hopefully retire fairly soon. Kids are accomplished, wife and I like to travel. House almost paid. Play tons of original music and record a lot with 2 bands. Looking for a new long term relationship as my Captain has left me after 19 years. Hope we passed the audition

But the house is almost paid...again. Bought it, lived in it with my wife for about 13 years, paid it off by neing super aggressive with the extra payments. Got divorced just short of 20 years. Bought her out of the house. Now it's almost all mine. Now I'm with a musician - singer, keyboardist, bit of guitar. Had a successfuk run in a band in the 90s then the band split when she had kids and their drummer went off to play in the Philosopher Kings. Kids are adults now. She put out an independent solo album but it's almost impossible to get any traction without a tour and some kind of push on streaming. Still, to quote Gillian Welch, we're gonna do it anyway, even if it doesn't pay. I play a bit of guitar but don't have any need to perform.
