Thursday, January 4, Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins, 7:00 ET (didn't find anything in the calendar section) Thanks for doing this, Hulot. Aside from wanting the Bruins to win, I generally have no feelings of loathing for the other clubs. Not so with the Pens. It's not a Habs hate or Loaves disdain but they're in the chat. Especially these two: I'd enjoy seeing the Bruins take aim at them early and often all over the ice and not let them promenade around in their end.

Shabs, yes . Leafs, I almost pity them. The Tampons are right at the top of my list, but the team I really hate the most will always be the least sympathetic sports club in the known universe, the sports wing of the NSDAP, FC Bayern Munich .

Montgomery has often spoken of the Bruins playing to their identity of a full-send, forechecking team. I want them to add some brawn to that identity. Not scrapping. Consistent physicality.

Hoping we see Pooter back in. With Geekie on line 1, there is an ideal spot for him to thrive on line 3.

Hoping we see Pooter back in. With Geekie on line 1, there is an ideal spot for him to thrive on line 3. Montgomery said he likely won't be playing tonight, OC. With travelling back, they won't slot him in against the Pens but they'll start working him back into the lineup after tonight.

An anti-Heinen. So this is interesting: Matthew Poitras 27games, 5-8-13 +3 6Pim, 0.48p/g; ES 5G, 12P; PP 0-1-1; 1GWG; 38 shots, 13.2s%; 14:06TOI; 44FO% Danton Heinen 28games, 5-7-12 +11 12Pim, 0.43p/g; ES5G, 12P ; PP 0-0-0; 2GWG; 44 shots, 11.4%; 13:59TOI; 50FO% Heinen and Pooter have played almost exactly the same number of minutes this season and produced almost identical numbers. Heinen has less PP exposure, or maybe he'd have that assist to make it a perfect comparison. Two numbers diverge more than the others: +/- and PIM, with Heinen having more of both. Heinen's +/- is second on team to Carlo and just slightly ahead of Freddy and JDB. Both have just 3 fewer points than Marchand and Zacha at Even Strength. There's been a groundswell of love for Shattnerkirk the last couple of weeks, and for JVR in part because of their low salaries and good contributions. The stats suggest Heino is actually contributing in a way that Brown, Steen, Lauko, are not. He might deserve some grudging respect considering he's also on an uber-cheap contract.

Especially these two: I'd enjoy seeing the Bruins take aim at them early and often all over the ice and not let them promenade around in their end. I've been listening to Judd and Bob for a number of games for the last little while, and then watching through the games after the fact with the option to blaze through the long dead stretches of games against Jersey and the Isles. A negative consequence of this is the endlessly repeated ads for NHL Radio and the stupid 'hot take' vibe from the hosts they're trying to promote. Right now, Steve Kouleas is the worst. Steve Kouleas has always been the worst going back to the days of the Score. But his schick now seems to be to invent a straw man to fight and then act tough in his dismissal of said straw man. The latest example: Sidney Crosby is not only one of the top 5 hockey players of all time, he is as important a sports figure as anyone who has ever played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is served with a side of "I know there are people who don't want to hear this, but..." and "stick that in your pipe and smoke it!" It's somehow both obsequious and tough guy posturing and you'd admire his ability to live out a paradox if he wasn't so obnoxious.

Did we ever get an answer on Beecher disappearing? Benched for...? Or dinged?
I like the lines right now. Geekie's doing yeoman's work on the too line, adding Marchand seems to break the curse of Coyle with JDB, and that Freddy line is smoking. Keep it up!

He must have been benched as he's been present at B's practices the last couple days and is in the lineup tonight per Montgomery.

The answer is not in the height but the girth in the playoffs. I'll use a Wendy's commercial line to make it simple, "where is the beef"? As for your taunt.... taunt.... taunting.....you, you "Monty loving Python"....

Where Pooter and Heiny diverge is in the boring part; and that's not just about fun TV. Pooter remains 2nd in penalties drawn despite missing time, while Heiny is... dead last with 0. Guys that drive the play and make the opposition react draw fouls. Danton just isn't that guy. I do think he's been a high value signing, however.
