Lol, yeah...wrong direction as far as I'm concerned. Much like the classic debate over Connery vs Moore, if they follow Craig with someone on fancy, suave side, he'll fail. At least, for anyone who read the books. A lot of the ridiculous opulence of the Bond myth is a creation of the movies. He has his champagne and caviar etc., but more often than not, the meals he orders are bacon and scrambled eggs with lots of buttered toast. There's a particular kind of smokes he likes, but the big deal about the vodka martini is more movies - he's an alcoholic, so he never turns down a drink whether it's Old Grandad or Sake (the Vesper Martini was a real thing though...). In terms of look, size etc., Craig was about as good a casting decision they've made since Connery. The other suggestion floating around out there is that Idris Elba's the next man up, which would be OK, but even he's a bit too slick. Stringer Bell when you need Avon Barksdale in a tux. It'll also depend on where they plug in. In the books, there's a point where Bond is reviewing the way things work for 00s. There's an early retirement age where they get pulled from the field and sent to a desk to finish their careers doing reviews and analysis - that's death for Bond. He's the anti-Smiley. The Craig series is playing that end of the line and beyond with the way they handled his reinstatement in Skyfall. So - do they get another 45ish guy or do they backtrack and treat the Craig movies a bit like DC is treating the Nolan Batman series? You know who'd be great if it was the older end of the spectrum - Domenic West. Screw Stringer Bell - to the victors go the spoils and McNulty won. The younger guy...geez. Maybe Superman Cavill? He can do the sociopathic stare, anyway. Terence Young created most of that ridiculous opulence. As for a new actor, I don't know if I would like to see a black Bond. Cavill didn't impress me as "the man from U.N.C.L.E.". "Loki" Tom Hiddleston appears to be interested, but I don't think he would be a good choice either. But I don't get to make that call. Yeah, I forgot Cavill was in UNCLE. I don't know if that was deliberately campy or not, but it does suggest he might be the choice if they want camp. Ugh. I'm sure there's a Daniel Craig guy we're not thinking of who can keep that borderline sociopath streak going. I just don't know enough about British actors to speculate effectively. I mean, not Ian McKellan, not Patrick Stewart, not Michael Caine.... When I signed up for my free Netflix trial, I noticed there's a British version called Acorn. Maybe I need to check that out to scout the new Bond? Not that I have any more say that you. Ipot works in film. Maybe he can get me that power.

...and I think a black Bond would be fine. I think it would be a bigger issue if they went with a non-Brit, actually. I never want to see Clooney or Afleck pip pipping a faux Brit accent.

I haven't watched much of anything for about a month. I'm about to start Bosch and Justified, largely on the NAS endorsements. I tried Banshee for a little while, but had a hard time getting hooked. It did have its moments though, and my wife woke up mid-episode once and was convinced I was watching porn.
The other problem with some of these shows is that I only watch them right before I fall asleep at night, and some of them are so fucking dark. I had to give up on The Fall, because it either kept me awake or made me dream about horrible things. I think I would have liked it better if it wasn't the last thing in my mind before I try to sleep.

I read somewhere that Damian Lewis was a possibility. I like him as an actor but a ginger Bond? Henry Cavell would be a bad choice. I don't think he could pull it off, especially following Craig who was excellent. Also, too pretty. Bond should be rougher around the edges. Michael Fassbender was mentioned, too. Not bad.

Any good comedies I haven't seen? I can't remember if I've written this on here, but Brooklyn 99 is pretty good. Mainstream, but good. It's a good question though because I can't think of many comedies that have really been gold for a while.

All of the characters had some major hook. It was something like here's the preacher. He's married but he's banging this other lady. Oh, and he has a kid, a girl. And she's a drug addict. And here's the ex-girlfriend. She's a klepto. Don't forget about the town sheriff. He runs a gambling ring. The local school teacher is very popular. She's plotting to kill the principle. Like, come on, guys. Give me a plot, will ya? Justified kicks so much ass it, it could be the love child of Probert and Kocur. Bosch...I'm super disappointed that I have to wait a year for the next season. Harry Bosch and Raylan Givens...two modern day tv cops that should stand the test of time. (Don't tell Raylan I called him a cop. He hates that.)

Great rundown on Banshee NAS -- that's exactly the problem. I watched 4 or 5 episodes and it was kind of overwhelming. Every character would be the craziest person you've ever heard of. They don't gradually develop the character issues and nuances, they bludgeon you over the head with them in the first 3 episodes. I do like characters and scenarios that I can believe, on some level, are plausible.
Eastbound & Down was a good one. I can't remember if I watched every season, but I liked that.
Schitt's Creek is funny, but not hilarious, and there are so few episodes. Better Call Saul is pretty funny in some episodes. The latest season of Always Sunny had some really funny episodes, but again, not enough. I'll give Brooklyn 99 a shot. Otherwise, not much around for comedies.

No gingers. Don't think I have any opinion on Fassbender, but yes - navy, 25 Cigs, constant booze, and a host of borderline masochistic sufferings should show.

I'll tell you one comedy to friggin' avoid: The Ranch. Sam Elliot and two That 70's Show kids with Debra Winger...doesn't seem all that bad. Here's what you'll never get past: There's a laugh track. It's awful. I made it through one episode and couldn't bring myself to start the second.

"Teachers" on TV land is hilarious. Check out the first season. Will do. You might like, "Party Down". It's about a bunch of wannabe actors who work for a catering company in Hollywood. Lots of good characters.

The Revenant is coming to the house via Amazon blue ray disc. I'm sure the book does not match the film. Who gives a fawk! Excited to watch!

I'm surprised it was so short lived but I read that it only ended because Adam Scott was doing "Parks and Rec" instead.
