Just watched the Big Short! Great movie and I thought Steve Carrell and Christian Bales were fantastic! Fitting, since Big Short is your nickname in Miramichi.

Amazon Prime's "Bosch" is the nuts!
Only two seasons, but if you have AP, it's pretty much a must see show.

Saw it in an ad for CraveTV, too - so you don't need AP if you have Crave. I think of that guy as the leader of the Irish from SoA. Loved the fact that he hated Jax.

Anyone ever watch the HBO series "Carnivale"? I loved it, it was only 2 seasons i believe and sort of creepy, good vs evil stuff. Clancy Brown was great in it. Anyway, its good for a go if anyone hasn't seen it and as i said only 2 seasons long, so if you don't like it , it won't take up too much of your time.

I gave that a go, Dez. Some of the boys said it was decent. I had a really hard time understanding what they fuck they were saying half the time so I had to stop watching it. It drove me crazy. I had to keep rewinding it!

Finally sucked it up and got Netflicks.
The Canadian version sucks balls. No Fargo, no Justified, not one of the things I wanted when I went for the one month free trial.
Black Sails is the other one I keep being told is worth watching.

Great things to watch on Netflix: Firefly, Longmire, Copper, Hell on Wheels, Sons of Anarchy, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Friday Night Lights, The Killing, Dexter, Weeds (for a while), Alphas (underrated and just plain fun), Breaking Bad, Hatfields and McCoys, West Wing, Damages, Burn Notice, Parks and Rec I'm sure you have seen some or many of those, but there may be some you haven't. Every one of them comes with a high recommendation! Man, it's fucked up posting with these Habs symbols everywhere.

And easily my favorite part of season one is, in the midst of just awful stuff going down, Keith Carradine keeps saying "I haven't seen anything this...savage...since Sioux Falls." No one ever says what happened at Sioux Falls. Season two? They go back in time to Sioux Falls. I have to see season two. The person who told me over and over again to watch Black Sails said you could get it on Netflix. Nope! Dammit. Can't stand Nathan Fillion, so Firefly's a no-go. I still have one season (maybe 2?) of SoA, 2 of HoC and the end of Weeds to complete things I've seen most of. Dexter, Breaking Bad and Parks and Rec I've seen all of - I think (Ron Swanson kills me every time - when I say bring me all of your bacon and eggs, I don't mean bring me a lot of bacon and eggs. I mean go into the back there and bring me ALL of your bacon and eggs). I tried to watch the Killing when it was on, but I missed the first episode and I hate that, so that's one I'll do. Another recommendation I keep getting is Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch (worst name ever). I don't know about Orange.... I felt like I had served 4 years after watching OZ. Don't think I want to feel like that again.

Orange isn't so intense. Plus, when you get to see Donna from That 70's Show bust out her cans and dyke out, it's worth it. It's not like watching Beecher get raped in the ass.
SoA is one of the best shows ever, certainly worth finishing. The IRA season was bad, but they fixed it. I really liked The Killing. It seemed more realistic based on the decidedly average looking main characters.
I gave Sherlock a chance. It felt too far fetched. I mean, people are smart, but not that smart.
"Never half ass two things. Whole ass one thing." -Ron Swanson

"Never half ass two things. Whole ass one thing." -Ron Swanson Yeah, those are two very different things. I found Jax in SoA to be one of the most annoying characters I've seen in a long time. A couple of years ago over Christmas, one of my brothers kept disappearing to binge watch SoA on his iPad. Somehow, this got me to keep working references to "TAh-rah" into conversation. I got the imitation bang-on. It had that same sort of flaw as the X-Files where it was going along well with plenty of conflict and suspense - and freaks - and then they'd suddenly remember that the whole thing is Hamlet and Jax's daddy was killed by his Mom and his uncle who are now together. So you'd get this totally gratuitous, Hamlet-like soliloquizing about how is dad lost his faith in the world, the club, his friends, the outlaw culture, blah blah blahhhhhhh and family was the only thing so he was getting out. Then that would all go away for a while. Nothing came of it...it was just time for a reminder that hey, we're doing this Hamlet story.... I was rooting for Clay. The only good thing about the IRA season was whatsername from Deadwood showing up in it.

I now figure what I'll do - probably after the playoffs regardless of what happens this week - is do the free trial everywhere. That should get me all the shows, and most of the ones I want to see don't have a ton of seasons or lots of episodes per season. Fargo's got one or two I haven't seen and that's only 20 episodes. Etc. No way am I subscribing to all of them, though!

Maybe it's because I involuntarily overdosed on Pope Benedict Cummerbund. Some people even suggested he should be the next James Bond (I wonder what bookboy thinks about that idea).

Lol, yeah...wrong direction as far as I'm concerned. Much like the classic debate over Connery vs Moore, if they follow Craig with someone on fancy, suave side, he'll fail. At least, for anyone who read the books. A lot of the ridiculous opulence of the Bond myth is a creation of the movies. He has his champagne and caviar etc., but more often than not, the meals he orders are bacon and scrambled eggs with lots of buttered toast. There's a particular kind of smokes he likes, but the big deal about the vodka martini is more movies - he's an alcoholic, so he never turns down a drink whether it's Old Grandad or Sake (the Vesper Martini was a real thing though...). In terms of look, size etc., Craig was about as good a casting decision they've made since Connery. The other suggestion floating around out there is that Idris Elba's the next man up, which would be OK, but even he's a bit too slick. Stringer Bell when you need Avon Barksdale in a tux.
It'll also depend on where they plug in. In the books, there's a point where Bond is reviewing the way things work for 00s. There's an early retirement age where they get pulled from the field and sent to a desk to finish their careers doing reviews and analysis - that's death for Bond. He's the anti-Smiley. The Craig series is playing that end of the line and beyond with the way they handled his reinstatement in Skyfall. So - do they get another 45ish guy or do they backtrack and treat the Craig movies a bit like DC is treating the Nolan Batman series? You know who'd be great if it was the older end of the spectrum - Domenic West. Screw Stringer Bell - to the victors go the spoils and McNulty won. The younger guy...geez. Maybe Superman Cavill? He can do the sociopathic stare, anyway.

Barbara Broccoli is pretty shrewd business woman. I think she goes for another relatively unkown.
This decision will be bigger than the replacing of Moore.

I'm telling you guys, Bosch is the nuts. What a show! I'm super disappointed that I have to wait a year for the next season.
I'm going back to the Sorkin well, started The Newsroom last night. We'll see. If it fails, I can just continue on with Continuum I suppose. It's not great, but it's acceptable. It's like Chick without the super smoking hot blond.

He can do the sociopathic stare, anyway. Terence Young created most of that ridiculous opulence. As for a new actor, I don't know if I would like to see a black Bond. Cavill didn't impress me as "the man from U.N.C.L.E.". "Loki" Tom Hiddleston appears to be interested, but I don't think he would be a good choice either. But I don't get to make that call.
