Debrusk is a goner primarily due to his productive seasons in the past despite his inconsistencies. Calgary is one place willing to pay. As for Grys, I feel he will sign with the Bs if he lowers his price to 2m in a short term contract, I doubt it but he is comfortable with the area and team then why not. He and his agent no his limitations. We've heard nothing about the Grz contract situation, have we? Maybe I haven't been paying attention and there's been talk in Boston? But I'm inclined to think they're being secretive because of all the Boston boy, son of the janitor makes good stuff and the optics of kicking him to the curb. Gryz was quietly re-upped for 5 years at 4.1 million a year...paid in monopoly money.

"I'll be the top hat; what are you taking?" "I'll be Grz!"

Hope he gets caught in a hot tub with Jimmy "the fixer" Carboni. $7.35M/yr in a no-tax state. They need to sort out some kind of equalization to level the playing field that the tax regimes create. Maybe it affects revenue sharing? Maybe it's factored into cap calculations so that a player's net pay after taxes is what counts for Cap purposes? The NHL's most valuable franchises and biggest givers for revenue sharing are in high-tax cities - Toronto, Rangers, Canadiens, Kings, Bruins, Hawks, Oilers, Flyers. I could see them making this an issue if the Cap and revenue sharing are supposed to defuse the natural advantage they would otherwise have in terms of being able to outspend opponents and still make money. Good luck, Tampa, Vegas and Arizona, negotiating a big dollar national TV contract without NY, California, and Massachusetts. If you ask me, this is the kind of thing that could put the kind of wedge in ownership that gives the players more leverage in the next CBA discussion. A team in NY or Boston would have to go over $8M to match this offer in terms of how much money Hanafin takes home.

The signing basically puts the VGK at $86M+ in commitments for next year with Marchessault, Stephenson, Martinez and the newly acquired Mantha all UFA and so three forward spots to fill (Hanafin takes Martinez's spot). They've traded either the pick or player for 7 of their first 8 first round picks; they have their first this year, but no pick after that until the 6th round, and then no first rounder for the next two years at least. With Eichel and Stone in spotty health at best, and Eichel's deal up after two more years, this could be a bit of a last hurrah for the first Gen of the VGKs.

They also have to fit in Hertl's deal which has 7 yrs left @ $6.75 per year, someone has to go, maybe the B's can work out a trade for Eichel.

Monty should let Shattenkirk run the #1 PP the rest of the year and playoffs. To send McAvoy a message to get his shit together.

Monty should let Shattenkirk run the #1 PP the rest of the year and playoffs. To send McAvoy a message to get his shit together. Been saying this going on 2 months...also since 73 really doesn't do SHIT ON THE PP save his minutes for 5 on 5 and some PK...but Monty continually dicks Shat...guy gets 3 assists game, plays the next game, then sits 4 straight...I give up on how poorly he is used on a team that has a lot of good components but the worst PP on Earth. (and please stop citing where they are in the league on PP....they have been putrid now forever)...Pasta and Marchie have one PP goal each I think going back to All-Star Break.

This is the B's PP and Chris Kelly/Monty.

Marchand is El Capitan and love that he got his shortie and he is going to be big for B's in playoffs (like several has to be)...but...can we please take him off the PP or better can someone get him some stick'um? put it on his stick and hope the puck doesn't roll off like it does pretty much every shift with him...never seen a guy have a puck just come off his stick for no reason or out of lazy stickhandling...Love 63, and he is one of best NHL player ever for his size--but jesus the giveaways get really old and he is as big a problem on PP as whipping boy 73.

Usually a team puts its better offensive players on the ice during the pp and after Pasta, Marchy’s the B’S best weapon…. Need to take the bad with the good, the latter of which he creates his fair share….

Good idea to get the lowrider some icetime. Should be getttin him the TOI in the NHL. So beyond the A. The entity that made the decision to send Lohrei down. Is the same decision maker that wants us to think Grzelcyk is still a defenseman that can perform as a functional defenseman. It's better to have Mason in game action than just sit on the 9th floor. Lohrei playing in critical AHL playoff situations is probably a good thing. Unfortunate that an incompetent dman is still taking a crucial spot with the Bruins.

Here is a kid who absolutely needs NHL playing time and there was nothing to stop him from getting more games, same with Shatt on the PP, same with Wotherspoon...all 3 had to sit various games due to the presence of 48....that's an organizational fail. Gryz is serviceable at best, he was visible for the first time in a very long time in yesterday's win...that's not good enough for supposed veteran d who played most of the season next to 73. I just hope if he does play in the playoffs, he doesn't shit the bed like he did v. Islanders. He has been a huge minus in the postseason.

Sweeney has done some fantastic things as a GM, and I'm happy (this took me time to get to this point) he is our guy but his blind spot for Gryz is brutal. I'll be sad when we eventually get knocked out of the playoffs but will certainly rejoice in it being Gryz's final game as a B (I hope).
