My comments on Grz were a bit more directed at all the negativity towards him. I think it was too much. He had some bad plays, most notably in the last 2 games, but he's also had great games. Hes just not in the dump pile for me. Coyle I still wouldn't protect. They won't take him, but even if they did, yeah give Stud a shot. Frederics a C. There may not be a FA or trade available now, but there probably will be later. I guess Id rather have a ? at 3c than a guys who's overpaid by 2M+ signed for 5 more years. If the Kraken take him, they'd be doing us a favor. Nothing against the player, just his contract. Gryz is not cut out for playoff hockey. I don't think he ever will be.

Im not giving up on Grz. Sure he made some mistakes, some bad plays, but he's a real good player, and seems to be a good person. I wouldn't give up on a guy like that on my team, that's for sure. I'd also be willing to bet that the guys in the room have been supportive of him as well. Grzelcyk will have himself an excellent NHL career. Did a great job to come up from where he was drafted. But he cannot handle high pressure two man forecheck moments. His mishandling of the puck when with no one on him were horrible at times. No pressure. Got burned on coverage as well. On Coyle the Bs have no centers except for Studnicka under the ages of Bergeron and Krejci. Go look at the center market. O'Reilly will cost too much in trade. Not if tbey are in shed contract mode. Id take Schenn too. Love both of their compete levels.

On another note, theres no way Id protect Coyle. That contract is just too much money. I sincerely doubt the Kraken would take him either, so it opens another spot to protect someone else Nope he wouldnt be protected. At this point id have a hard time finding 7 fwds to protect. Maybe you go the 4 and 4 route then. Is their 4 D you would rather protect?

Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta Hall-Krejci-Smith Coleman-Studnicka-Coyle Goodrow-Frederic-Lazar Oleksiak-McAvoy Lauzon-Carlo Riley-UFA or Clifton/Miller Swayman Vet Goalie (Not against Rask if contract is right). When I post on CapFriendly I will name my Team “Raid the fuckin Tampons”.

Sweeney won't be able to balance signing all our free agents and plucking some new guys but it shows this thing can be revamped pretty quick. Gives hope. Only issue is I haven't liked Coyle at wing wherever they try it. Seems even worse than he is at center.

Well, I've been a big Gryzz supporter, but his size looks like an example of how too small and not tough the Bs are. But Lauzons play has not convinced me hes the guy to keep.
Id leave a lot of forwards available like Ritchie, Coyle, and DeBrusk, but I dont think the Krackheads take a Bs forward. Love them to take Jake.
Im going to leave the call to Sweeney and the Krak is gonna take whichever D they dont protect.

They're both bigger and younger with lots left to learn. Gryz isn't likely to get a whole lot better and I'm almost positive he won't get any bigger.

That he was paired with Boston's top defender speaks to the lack of depth behind the blueline. I don't see him in the number one pairing conversation.

You can make a case after the Isles series that it's worth keeping Zboril and not Gryz. I would never have said that before the series. Now, does one series make a player? Of course not and that's why Hall is valuable and Smith is huge (groin injury) and having your best defensemen is important. But Gryz and Clifton, these are small guys, I'm sorry this is a big boy's league. Little d guys get destroyed by big strong forward checks and speed guys seem to go around both. Sorry, I'm moving on from Gryz (5-8)/Clifton (5-11 it says? I see 5-9) if I was really trying to change the direction of the franchise to matchup with strong/physical teams. Zboril is not physical but he's also not a tiny gnat either at 6 feet listed. I'm just tired of the Little B's. No more little.

I heard you clamouring about it all year. Now its time to walk away and get bigger. Our PK sucked, Z was great in that area, our physical presence is embarassing, Z is a freak, our def couldnt stay healthy, Z the pillar of consistancy. Only if we could have a mulligan.

Time and Space are important...it's about limiting time and closing down space...big mobile D is what you need these days to combat heavy teams like the Lightning/Caps/Isles... The Bruins have MacAvoy and Reilly as puck movers and they have decent size. The other guys need to bring the beef. Keep Cliffy as a back up puck movers but he should not break Top 6 unless Reilly or Mac go down. Move on from Gryz.

One of the def will be gobbled up via seattle. Sign Oleksiak, sign Z, Lauzon. Thats a pretty beefy left side. Mcavoy, Carlo (if not used for Jones) and Clifton.

Big No...on Big Z...he is great like you say in his own zone and PK, but the big fella can't skate anymore to play any kind of transition game. This is exposed against those quicker teams giving up 2 v 1 s and breakaways, which the Bruins gave up way fewer this year by my eye tests. The Caps knew this as well by the amount of ice time he got this year.

Besides top trio B’S, will protect Smith and Coyle…. Coyle needs to be protected because of his nmc unless he agrees to waive it…. Doubt the B’S are only going to protect 8 skaters anyway….

The Bruins system is air tight. Z looked fabulous on the 3rd pairing with Jensen who had his best year as a Cap. I wonder why. Id rather lose a foot race over a physical battle. Z is a smart player and if partnered with Clifton can do just as much as Tinordi gave and then some.

The key players are being protected. I hope they protect Lauzon over Gryz. As for the fwds. The only ones i like are getting protected. Seattle can have whoever they want after that.

If his minutes were up against the Bruins in the playoffs that would not be good. Bs need you bucks on the back end.

This may have been true for regular season, which doesn't matter as much. Check the box scores. In all but one game, he was getting under 15 in the Playoffs for the most part against the B's. In one of the OT games he got 12. They were protecting him using him for 5v5 Dzone faceoffs and PK. He is past his time.

He was their best def penalty killer as well. Would have been a much better option then clifton, tinordi, miller. Lauzon hardly played when it mattered. Gryz stunk. If young bucks mean Jones then i am ok. But if its a similar shit show like this year i want no part of it.
