I don't know whether to LOL or tell you to fuck off. Actually, just thinking that made me LoL, so...Lol. Funny, though - we've been talking about how good it will be for the Bruins to have Johnny Cap Space on the books next year, but the news that everyone will get another $5M to spend has loosened a lot of wallets for teams to keep their high value UFAs. That makes this list really unappealing. And you wonder if the big deals for Power, Dahlin and Boldy recently are a wave of teams realizing that in the absence of UFAs more teams may use their cap space to take a run at RFAs and in waaaaaay more creative ways than in the past now that Carolina sort of twisted the cap off of that tube. I would guess that Lindholm, Nylander, Guentzel, DeBrusk, Hanafin, Montour, Pesce and Myers don't get anywhere near UFA. Stamkos might if he is truly disappointed that the Bolts aren't showing him enough love; Stephenson will because I don't think Vegas loves him enough to pay him what he's going to get as a 30 yr old point/game C; Bertuzzi might because I doubt the Laffs can afford him long term. Everyone else is pretty much second or third tier and down.

The arrival of Pooter and Beecher makes me care much less about the coming UFA's.

The Bruins could conceivably concentrate on signing or trading a RW/LW wing. After bringing Hanifin home.

Bertuzzi has an unofficial contract in January. Two are interesting, Pasta’s friend Nylander and Petersson.

I think a lot a depends on a team's performance and if they think they can make a run. They obviously are much more likely to get to UFA if their current team holds them through the playoffs.
Pots and Lorhei change things a bit from what we were thinking a couple months ago. Maybe we try to grab a winger instead of a center. Maybe instead of a big contract to Hannafin we splurge a little extra to beef up the 3rd pairing.

Sandog is correct to say that the Bs are in the game. The Johnny Capspace is a mirage as SteveGM agrees. My problem with Steve is he is a contrarian, so everything negative has to be emphasized. He is good at that, and many times correct. The fact is the Bs will be ripe with 30m of cap space on a team in a short rebuild. I am not delusional to think Poitras alias Pooter is the next coming of Bedard if I read the Canadian press correctly. The team does need some high end wingers. You may have been correct on Bertuzzi. The wish now becomes Nylander of something of that sort. Who the truck knows what he may do. For that matter Pettersson is beginning to put on a show in Vancouver, so maybe he is a RFA to pursue. I generally don't like UFA signings but the next year is an anomaly on cap space. Couple inflation with now relieve from debts owed by the Players, well, it will be a matter of what team is promising success not paying in the years to come. Boston in my opinion is not set to fall on the cold ice facedown in the next few years. The trades, yeah, well guess what the Nylanders' may want LA, but do they want to wait. So fuck off to those who don't think the timing is right next year.

If Nylander gets to UFA and Sweeney signed him i think i would cough up a lung laughing, the emotional anxiety emanating out of Trawna would be delicious, oh man!

Just like I did when John Taveres signed with Toronto. Choked in laughter. The whole UFA thing next year will be a thunderous cry of "WTF".

I'm in the 'never Nylander' camp, personally.
His pond hockey effort on defense is critical to the Toronto culture of choking in the playoffs every year. He is so bad away from the puck. I think that over time, Boston fans would hate him. All skill and finesse, but instead of packing a lunch bucket, he door-dashes creme fraiche. Bad culture fit.

Probably not likely that Nylander ends up in Boston vs him getting to UFA. But I think under Monty and the urging of Pasta. That backcheck habit could be fixed. Nathan Horton wasn't known for his defense in Florida either. Again the chances are slim but that kind of sniper talent, with Marchhand a few years away from retirement, the Bs need some talented wingers.
