JDB might get hot - and then everyone forgets. But I hope not. That Islander playoff series loss still sticks in my craw. No matter what, you give it your all no matter who is coaching. Might get hot and will get hot...2 different things entirely. Sort of like the girl you picked up in the bar at 1:00 am might be as good looking when you wake up, but might not.

Get off my team....74,48. I'm still holding out with some reluctance to be finished with Grizz, because I think he's in kind of a tough spot -- playing heavy minutes at defense on a team with significant injuries to the usual ranks (and missing the centers that have led on team defense in past years too). He has not looked good, but he has a tough assignment most nights. That cannot be said for Debrusk, who has just become an utter disappointment in more games than not. He just doesn't seem like he cares to get his hands dirty, and is among the least noticeable players in most games. I'm all out of sympathy and reasoning. I know the Bruins need to be patient from an asset management perspective and try to maximize value, but frankly, it would be refreshing to see Merkulov (or whomever) is his place for a few games at least. Debrusk will likely continue to have his ebbs and flows, and at times will look like a good forward, but it's just too hard to wait out the long gaps of 70% efforts between the good surges. Grzelcyk is playing as McAvoy's partner on most nights. I think he and his incompetence totally obstruct CMc's development (where was the conversation I had with Fiddy about expecting more from McAvoy? It was somewhere on this board).

I don't think I agree with this. I'll ask myself again later. If we're talking about giving Grz some rope, I'd say you have to give some to JDB as well. Because I don't feel like I've seen the floater JDB very often this season. In fact, OC dug up a point about JDB being one of the top F on the team in creating high danger chances. He's just not finishing them. I also look at the way he's been used and I see a player who is being moved around because he's more versatile in terms of where coaches think he can help rather than a guy being moved to get him going and help him break out of his slump. DeBrusk's career shooting percentage is 12.4. He's at 6.2 this season. The one player on the Bruins we know is a terrible fit to play with DeBrusk? Charlie Coyle. They had their worst seasons playing together under Cassidy. Who has he played with the most? Coyle. Almost a third of his ES TOI. Next is Pooter and Heinen - a rookie for whom he is basically the defensive conscience with his speed and a guy who almost didn't get a contract. And despite these things, he's got the second best +/- on the team among forwards, trailing only Pastrnak. He's also only 3 ES points back of Marchand - so one point every 10 games. 4 back of Zacha. 3rd in SH TOI, but 6th in PPTOI among forwards despite having good success on the PP in the past. Geekie is getting more time (probably the Zacha injury impact). Team has yielded only 2 PPG while he's been killing. I think putting Merkulov in his spot would likely be at best a mixed bag. I can easily see lil George scoring a goal but finishing -1 on the night, and the PK surrendering a goal because you don't play George on the PK and someone else will have to take Jake's spot. But some will call that success because he scored a goal. I am more concerned that Marchand has produced much less offense at 5v5 over the last 6 weeks, that Pastrnak's effort seems to vary widely from game to game, and that they seem to be cooling on Pooter. Oh, and McAvoy is on track to be -60 by season's end.

Oh, and McAvoy is on track to be -60 by season's end. I think there are a few reasons that I'm at about the end of my rope with Debrusk. One is kind of nebulous, but it's the eyeball test. His play is just so uninspiring. He never seems angry, urgent, passionate, or whatever. He kinda goes through the motions and seems, to me, to be developing the 'perimeter player' trend. It reminds me of Taylor Hall and speaks to the stat you noted about the low shot %. I don't think that's an accident and it's indicative of a player who (more and more) keeps himself in low percentage shooting areas and gets marginal chances. Debrusk wasn't always this way, but it's becoming the norm. Of course, I am not saying I would expect Merkulov to roll in and be a net improvement. I wouldn't. But it would still be refreshing to see some changes there, and perhaps root for a player with some gusto. I know the silly tradition of fans clamoring for the next AHL mystery box to replace a proven NHL player, and it's almost always dumb. I just have to admit that I would probably enjoy it on some level. This team has a lot of problems all of the sudden, and if veterans are becoming passengers that aren't really maximizing their capabilities, I think it starts to trickle down. Lastly, fair or unfair, this guy will always be tied to his draft position and potential on some level. You just always wanted him to turn the corner, and be that 30-30 player that you think he could. Instead, we have 4 goals in 31 games this year, at age 27. For God's sake, Danton Heinen could come in, literally off the scrap heap, and match his production.

Book inspired me to do a little stat research too, because, ya know, numbers are fun...
Jakey Poo has the same exact stats as off the street captain vanilla danton, except with less +/- and in 7 less games.
Same number of goals as fourth line rook the Beecher Creature, but The BC has 21 more hits with 6 less too mind... Oh BC actually hustles and plays like he gives a shit!
Even with a "slumping" Potsi, Potsi has more point in 4 less games and with an average of 3 less on ice minutes per game.
Tied for 9th on the team for goals and tied for 10th in points. And let's not forget one of his goals came BECAUSE he completely pussed out and chose to hit the breaks instead of going into the boards to fight for a puck and it popped out to him and he could pot it before anyone could touch him. Still getting rewarded for being a millennial pussy who think he should just be given everything without hard work. 🤢🤮
GET OFF MY TEAM! and take grizz with you... You know looch still ahead of grizz in points?!?! Lol

As soon at the little shit demanded out, he's been on my shit list, and his play has done nothing to suggest otherwise. He has so many great tools...he's fast...he can carry the puck on his own and swoop in...he has great size for a forward...a great shot...a great tip-in artist...great shootout guy....and he added backchecking and PK to his arsenal....So why does a guy with so many tools just fail miserably? I can't figure him out...he can't be this bad. And yet he has now created a M.O. of extended streaks of zero on offense...and now with 37,46 gone, that's unacceptable. He should be top 3 in team scoring...fucking period. He never relied on all the passing, he was always an individual in his B's years, so be one now...nope, instead sucks. He was the guy during the Winter Classic, carried the team on his back to win that game...where is that guy?

I think this breaks down into a few categories: 1. Guys you hated when they played against the Bruins who could be rehabbed if they played as well in Black and Gold; 2. Guys who were embarrassing in Black and Gold; 3. Ex-Shabs. . I think there’s also the guys that might have had their great moments but were just so smarmy and annoying that I just couldn’t stand them. I’d lead that club with Tim Thomas & Joe Thornton.
Thomas was douchey spaz who alternated between giving up the worst goals in the NHL this side of Fleury vs Philly, and making the biggest highlight reel saves punctuated with the most unnecessary acting-it-up acrobatic out-of-position nonsense. He could get hot and uninformed fans loved the jumping bean show and he managed to win the 4 Finals games that the Bs scored 7 goals for him in, so there’s that.
But he was a whiny sourpuss who never met an excuse he didn’t like or a teammate he couldn’t blame. And that selfish childish White House routine was the last straw..
Then there was Jumbo No, the no back checking playoffs disappearing man whose had more Cs stripped from his jersey than championships. The best thing about The Hobo was the trade chasing him out of town resulted in bringing in the best Captain and leader the Bs have ever had, culminating in a Cup. Thanks Joe; fuck off.

Featherstone San thats the one !!- plus they had those horrible throw back jerseys the year he was on the team And the Bs media, at the time, made picking up the yard ape a big deal. Then he had a mental breakdown game in Providence. haha Featherstone! When I was in my 20s I worked for a beer company in the city and he was the sales manager for one of the schwag companies that I worked with. Loved showing me pictures of chicks on his laptop lol

Since goalers are a different sub-species they are essentially exempt from such lists IMO. Oh, and this sourpuss backstopped the sole Cup championship in the past 40 years while being awarded the Vezina and Conn Smythe indicating no Cup in 11 if not for him.

I will even go so far as to say "Tuukka in goal in '11, no cup". TT played like he was on a mission. Unfortunately, he went on another mission after the cup...
