I'd like to take a guess what the letters B & O stand for - I think it's "Boutros Orenthal". You came up with it. It can mean whatever you like.

Yes Gryz bought himself another 2 years and a playoffs so his minus-19 will go to minus-25. The constant defense of Gryz fuels his existence as a B...he'll be there until probably for the rest of his career. Well protected by Sweeney/Monty. Only others can do something wrong and be H.S. Or...others are actually worse players and if you really want Toby gone, you're going to need to send Shittencrack packing and probably find a better alternative than Wotherspoon who has been unable to sustain his 7th D NHL level play. Note that that doesn't say Toby is any good. I have brought out that there is a necessity to find at least 2 more d in the top 6...so yes Gryz will stay especially if Lindholm is injured, but I'd prefer him to stay if only as a backup, popcorn 7th man alternative for the playoffs.

I have pushed the idea of a big three in the playoffs for the last two years. You have three guys in their primes who excellent defenders and two of them can contibute on O. Hampus will find it again. Then you can gave a few guys you can stomach for special teams - PK in particular. They can play 12-15 a game. And if that's the case, you can squeeze out Toby because you aren't looking for a guy who is able to play a lot of nondescript minutes. You want badgers who will rage for a few minutes and then sleep it off on the bench.

Forbort's play also dictates B's future moves...when he's hitting, playing well on PK, blocking shots, he's a keeper..but a lot of his play has been average at best and not very good on the PK especially--hated his panic backhand puck off the boards on the Kings PP goal...not sure why he didn't just go the other direction...it's a recipe for disaster that blind backhand...he had nothing on it and it was not going to leave the zone...Carlo flings it a lot--learned that from Chara--Forbort has been in the past good at that too...also can lift the puck...but he can be a liability with the wrong pairing too--can't believe he was with Shattenkirk...stupidity to have 2 slower d guys together.

And yet he's the guy Monty went to to fill in for Lindholm, and they came back to win a game where they were not at their best. He finished +2 (out of a possible +3). The Toby hate is full on Michael Scott vs. HR. This is hilarious.

Thank you, DoubleOC. Wasn't easy for me to get this done - like I might have mentioned before, unfortunately English isn't my mother tongue...

when I first saw this for some reason I just looked at headline...Then I read it...OMG...LMFAO....this is priceless work. *often being credited with assists even though he hadn't been on the ice...*...ROFLMAO..it's funny because it's true!!!! (well at least in that 5-point game where the stats were simply guessed at)

Skewed Wayne Redden +/- numbers. And we know what happened to ol Wayne when he wasn't sheltered any longer by Chara.
Grizz will get worked again, during the playoffs, around the net. It's a given, when a sheltered dman gets exposed.

The hope is that the B's will give Lohrei the nod over Gryz after they acquire another d guy...Wotherspoon has been great, I think he is better than Gryz, plays a physical game, and is rivaling Forbort as a PK guy.

In the postgame, Monty said this v. Ottawa: "That was Matt Gryzlyk's best game of the season, in all 3 zones."...that will surely put him ahead of 3-assists Shattenkirk, Wotherspoon who hits people, and Lowrider, a 10x better player offensively...oh well.
Mr. Hulot will see that interview and commit hari kari

I don't have a personal vendetta against Grzelcyk/Graesslich.
If he suddenly starts to develop into a good hockey dman, I'm going to be the first one to admit it.
But the fact that both Jack Edwards ("Grzelcyk is soooooo good with his stick!", why can't Jack be as flawless in enunciation, pronunciation, grammar, etc. when it comes to commenting on the really important plays?) and Montgomery feel the need to point out that #48 is "good" or "had his best game" still makes me think that they both know that he has no business skating on the B's first d pairing or being in the lineup at all.
We'll see the real Matt Grzelcyk come playoff time (unfortunately, I'm afraid, he will be in the Bruins lineup). And we will (again) all wonder how he ever got on the B's roster.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Gryz is not as good as Monty thinks he is but better than the board consensus on here thinks he is. Of course thats like saying hes somewhere between a Norris candidate and a career minor leaguer, and yes, Im taking that canyon of middle ground and copping out.

I'll step into this and take the manly route of offering a strong opinion, contrarians be damned! So I'll say it, I'm just happy to be here and let's play it one day at a time.

I'm sorry, 48's performance v. Philly deserves a fucking healthy scratch...play Wotherspoon, Shat and Lohrei and plant this overrated piece of garbage on the bench. So sick of how little he does..all-time liability on the PK (the guy can't go 15 seconds on this specialty team before a goal goes in because of things like rushing the guy along the high boards)...Not sure why it's okay to bench 29 for eternity, bench Shat after a 3-point game (uh hello, B's need offense from the defense), and bench 6 all the time while trying to get 52 playing time...48 hit the balcony just once...Monty stop giving this guy a free pass. Sweeney you fucked up by not unloading him at trade deadline. Out of sight, out of mind as Monty is in love with him.

It's a given, when a sheltered dman gets exposed. Redden had two more good years in Ottawa after Chara left. His +/- came down but relative to the team's performance. It was never a minus. He was still good enough for Sather to offer him $6.5M and the consensus for a while was that he lost his offensive step but would have remained an NHL player if he wasn't so expensive.
