If Montreal never makes the playoffs again it's fine by me, don't miss em', don't need em', don't want em', fuck em'. Ever been to Montreal to see a play off game?! If you can't appreciate that atmosphere & just fall in love with the sport even more while your there? I don't know what to tell you! Out of the 29 NHL cities I've been to. Montreal is WITHOUT QUESTION the best outside of Boston! If I wasn't a Boston fan & just a hockey fan & not cheering for anyone in particular? Nothing beats the city of Montreal to see an NHL game! Plus the night life is Canada's Vegas imo! Yes i have, was at the game when the B's beat them to knock them out of the playoffs for the first time in 45 years, was fantastic. There are lots of other great rivalries for the B's right n ow, TO, Florida, Bolts, don't miss Montreal in the playoffs at all, and the way it's trending it'll be awhile before they're back, like a long long time, they suck. I love the city of Montreal though, nice place.

I'm definitely going last year. 2010 there was a decisive play that turned it around for Philly... Destroying Krejci... The turnaround was all Philly. Last year, not only do you have the win ingest regular season team in league history, but they shot themselves in the foot on and off the ice and flat out sucked, played stupid and blew it. 100% agree. 2010 was bad, but when 46 broke his wrist you knew disaster was around the corner. Last year, historic team, cant get past the first round? Choked leads, horrible play including by a goalie who shouldn’t have been playing, poor coaching… 2023 ugh. Yup, was a complete organizational collapse from the top down.. Took almost everyone who gets a B's paycheck to clusterfuck that one. Actually I sort of give DS a pass at that point... I thought he brought in 3 great players to give them the best run. How he killed all that organizational value after the collapse is a different gripe...

OC will dissagree with you there, lol. Still think Brad Marchand wants to kill gammy by getting rid of players isolating after a positive test? Ha! I just said that because that was a butterface championship year.

B's are 5 & 1 in those games. Always had a blast!

Spent a Canada Day sitting on the walls of the fort having a cigar and looking down on the Plains of Abraham. Now I'm in Montreal a dozen days a year. If I lived there, I'd be fatter than anything I ever accused you of being!

And that's pretty fucking fat buddy! 🤣 Yea I played in some tournaments there a few times in Midget during the Quebec Winter Carnival! The parade is massive! French girls & women in that province are off the charts beautiful! Most gorgeous strippers I ever seen were in a place called the "Pigale" in Gautineau, PQ. There wasn't a single one that was below an 8! I got hauled up on the stage by 8 of them for my B-Day that the boys paid for without my knowledge. Gave me a spanking after soaking my ass in water with my own belt. I was 30 yrs old. I was working away for 3 months & didn't see the Mrs that whole time! Could only bang her in the dark for the 1st 2 wks I came home, because she would've freaked if she would've seen the welts on my ass! Great times!!

It’s an incredible place for a game, but I wouldn’t miss them in the playoffs ever again, either. My last memory of a Habs/Bs playoff was an OT elimination of the Habs on the Bs wayto a Cup is perfect, thanks.

Is the Quebecois food as good as the French? Or is it the cognac? I know they had subtitles on French TV for "Lance et compte" (He shoots, he scores) which was produced in Quebec - in French, but in French-Canadian French...

I've been to the old forum 3X, the aforementioned playoff game being one of them and another time was Patty Roy's last game for Montreal an 11-1 shellacking at the hands of Detroit, Tremblay leaving Roy in for 9 gls, hah! What a night, almost as enjoyable as the B's playoff victory but of course that playoff win was historic. The other game was a B's regular season game which the B's lost , drats, 2 out of 3 ain't bad baby!!

Beating Montreal has always been great but less so the last 10 yrs or so, Montreal sucks and the games don't seem to pack the emotion or animosity as in the past. I don't see Montreal being a playoff team for quite awhile so regular season victories will have to do.

If i look at their roster i see some good players but none that are elite. I think Slapchopsky could develop into something but who knows. Their Dcore has some old guys and young guys none of which i would consider having 1st pairing capabilities and their goatending is ok, Montembault would be a good backup on a good team. I guess we'll see but i see other Eastern conference teams that are better than them right now and a number of teams that are ahead of them on the rebuild curve.

Gastric bypass surgery. I think just the scents wafting from that cafe would have me floating in like Wimpey used to when he'd smell burgers.

Seems I am allergic to them. But that wouldn't save me in Montreal. Smoked brisket sandwiches at Schwartz's, bagels, some of the world's best lox, world class croissants and Koughn Aman which is like a cross between a cinnamon rill and a croissant but 100x better. Then some great high end options. You could just eat your way into a coma.

Habs' rookie goalie Ken Dryden, that fuckin' long necked buzzard was THE reason that powerhouse mob were upset in seven games. He absolutely stoned Orr, Espo and company. He was unreal, Rich. His arms and legs seemed 20 feet long. He went on the win the Smyth.

Going back to the op, I wanted to be pissed at PK when he omitted the Bs from his Eastern contenders between periods of the Fla game. But I wasn’t. I agree. I just don’t see them being much of a threat for the cup. Unless the Huggie Bears take them there.
I REALLY hope that I’m wrong. Or that I’m right and the goalies do their thing.

I agree… they certainly have looked better lately. But unfortunately their improved play + FLA coming back to Earth a little has actually hurt them. Now they could finish first in the division, second in the conference, setting them up for a first round matchup with Tampa, and we know how those go. This team is a perennial playoff bust and there will be no change in that this year, great regular season notwithstanding. This team deserves a ton of credit for what they are accomplishing this regular season. Their post historic run budget was patched together with spit and masking tape and they lost 2 franchise icons and an immeasurable amount of leadership besides. What they have accomplished as a group this regular season should be celebrated for years to come. But they are not remotely a Cup contender.
