As San Dog pointed out, we lost another one...
P.J. O’Rourke, Conservative Political Satirist, Dies at 74
In articles, in best sellers and as a talk show regular he was a voice from the right skewering whatever in government or culture he thought needed it.

Wasn't his article in (the magazine)National Lampoon the premise for the National Lampoon Vacation movie?

Emile Francis Dies at 95 on Feb 19 2022; Rebuilt N.H.L.’s Rangers as Coach and G.M. Known as “the Cat” when he was a nimble goaltender, he went on to lead the team to a winning record and coached stars like Eddie Giacomin, Rod Gilbert and Brad Park.
I would have thought he was dead long ago.

I would have thought he was dead long ago. I enjoyed the story on 32 Turds about Francis, among his many claims to fame, being the guy who absolutely roasted Harold Ballard once. Back in the days of the WHA failing, the governors were discussing whether to pursue peace in our time by incorporating teams into the NHL as they did, or, as Ballard wanted, letting them starve to death. Can't remember what Ballard apparently said to set the Cat off, but the story was that he did what so many people had wanted to do with Ballard for so long and just couldn't.

Memories of my GenX 90s days. "...@ 57..." Not that far behind. Ahhh the festivals when they were affordable. Ancient memories. And I don't mean age, I mean the wallet denting.

"...@ 57..." Not that far behind. Ahhh the festivals when they were affordable. Ancient memories. And I don't mean age, I mean the wallet denting. Oh, absolutely. And if you liked a band enough to fork out for the album, you played it to death because you didn't have everything at your fingertips all the time.

The great Gary Brooker passed away. What a voice. The first time John Lennon supposedly heard A Whiter Shade of Pale, he had to pull his car over because he was gobsmacked. I've attached a link to Procol Harum's (with the Edmonton Symphony) live version of "A Salty Dog" It's a great example of just how great his voice was. His vocal at the crescendo always make the hair on my arm stand up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VahV5HtaESo

Anyway, here's another link to a live version of "A Salty Dog", with the late great B.J. Wilson on drums:

The tale becomes more myth as time goes by. and you rightly note "The great BJ Wilson". This guy deserves mention among the all-time best. and although he's not featured, some might note that that is a young Robin Trower on guitar.

Brooker was a talented musician who did a lot of amazing session work.
I've always loved live stuff, if it got recorded at a high level. So much more energy and feel, even if the band isn't quite as tight.
If you love whiter shade of pale like I do(one of my favorite all timers) check out the live performance in Denmark. you can find it on youtube Amazing

John Clayton passes away at 67 yrs after a brief illness. He was a long time NFL contributor to ESPN, forgot more about football than just about everybody, did some funny Sportcenter commercials for ESPN.
