Okay, Under The Dome was good for the first two seasons. The third one was a super bust...which is probably why it only lasted three seasons. I tried Better Call Saul. Six episodes in and I was bored with it. So now I'm on to Schitt's Creek at the suggesting of the gang here. Certainly the premise is great and I could use a 21 minute comedy instead of the 44 minute drama. The only thing that sucks is that Chris "Get A Life" Elliot is in this. He sucks. I don't find Chris Elliot very funny either. Schitt's Creek usually isn't laugh out loud funny either. But the two spoiled, clueless kids crack me up and Eugene Levy is always funny.

No luck with The Americans. It was okay, but didn't have enough to get me to episode five. The Blacklist? Nope. Three episodes and see ya. Up next? Under The Dome. The premise is pretty bad but whatever. I never even tried with The Americans. I saw the commercials and thought "Felicity the Spy? Nah." The Blacklist Costanzaed me. I watched enough of it to have a weird attachment to it. It turns into something like the X-Files originally was both for good and for ill - that is, there's a shadowy conspiracy, one of the main characters is driven by mysteries from her childhood, it's the FBI, and it's trying to balance the long-game story with the fact that the premise is set up for villain of the week like Law and Order. I still watch it, but out of habit and not because I would recommend it to anybody. Under the Dome is pure Stephen King. Interesting but far-fetched premise and you kind of overlook that because it almost immediately becomes about the characters...but when the plot comes back, it's a trainwreck and eventually hits Stupidtown. The last one of his I read was interesting for a while - lots of science-like stuff that crossed into pseudoscience - that ended with our alien ant overlords or something equally ridiculous out of a 50s era matinee. I was willing to ride it out at first because I thought it was a mini-series - 12 episodes and I'm out! But no, when the first season ended, I couldn't care enough to keep up with it.

My favourites right now are (not in order of preference) Blacklist, Blindspot, Quantico, The Player, Limitless, Blood & Oil, Shades of Blue, Impastor and Superstore. Superstore is a sitcom that basically makes fun of Walmart. I deal a lot with Walmart employees through my work so I find it funny as hell. Shows I still watch, even though they don't intetest me as much as they used to, are Blue Bloods, Hawaii 5-0, The Good Wife, Madam Secretary, CSI Cyber and Castle.

I watched some of the Americans, and enjoyed it, yet I didn't stick with it. Not sure why. I would argue, surprisingly, that Keri Russell is not one of the problems with the show. She kind of pulls off the role, in my opinion, believe it or not. And she's still easy on the eyes.
I found The Blacklist to be irritating after a few episodes. The smugness of James Spader's character, and the premise that he's always 3 steps ahead of every other person in the plot, was too much to swallow. I love realistic characters in these drama shows. I loved how Walter White was a genius in one scene and then a bumbling buffoon in the next. He was sincere and believable as a character (maybe not so much in the finale). The Blacklist has too many scenes where the entire FBI, and the criminal enterprise in question, are fumbling around in circles while Spader calmly outsmarts everyone with that dumb smile on his face.

I agree, Fletch. Believable characters aren't so common anymore. That's another reason Justified rocks. Raylan Givens won't be beat in a draw down, but he routinely gets his ass kicked in fights.
This week's bad guy surrounded by Spader's issues and a sad sack FBI just isn't what I'm looking for.

Hap and Leonard looks like it is going to worth a look on Sundance TV. I could stand a lot of Christina Hendricks viewing.

If you're into British cinema, you should catch Legend. It's the true story of Ron and Reggie Kray, twin gangster thugs who terrorized London in the early 60's. Both roles are played by Tom Hardy. There was an earlier version called The Krays in 1990 that starred Gary and Martin Kemp which was also solid. I've tried to watch the Spandau Ballet version, way too much violence for my liking, but it's probably impossible to make a movie about the Kray twins without a lot of violence in it. Still have vivid memories of the 1990 film where one of the Krays stabs a fellow through the hand on a pool table? You're right. If it's about the Krays violence will be included.

I just can't get into the comic-book-turned-into-a-movie stuff. At least not the super hero genre. Some graphic novels turn into ok movies like Men in Black. By the time I was an adult I had figure out that muscle-bound men jumping around in their undies is about as gay as it gets. This isn't the same as all the other super hero movies. Matter of fact he makes fun of them. There's sex, heads cut off, lots of sex jokes. You need to check out who DeadPool actually is. Lol I watched a couple of trailers for DeadPool. I may give it a go. I'll wait a few more weeks so I'm not at the theater surrounded by comic book dorks. Yeeesh!

Oh, and Ava Crowder makes every day better. "Bushmills? That's fucking Protestant whiskey." I hate Walton Goggins. Just the sight of him. He could play Mr. Ed live on stage. I stopped watching the Shield in season 2 because just the sight of him made me nauseous. That, and after he banged a prostitute in the interview room, she used the phrase "yammy full of Georgia joy juice." Bye. Now, that was a long time ago, and I've managed to keep my dinner down after seeing him in other shows, so...maybe? You'll have to answer this question, because it seems more relevant to the the topic: On a scale of 1-Swearengen, where are these characters?

Stuck binge watching Criminal Minds...just finishing Season 6. Holy fuck it sucks!!!! It's not the best, but I throw it on once in a while. I found the first couple of seasons tolerable as it was somewhat believable....but then they seemed to get a case of "the stupids" with some story-lines (secret agents, terrorist hunting, etc) ugh!!!
Luckily only 3 more seasons to go.....I am getting dumber with every episode.

Not getting into any series until season 4 of House of Cards comes out. Have a feeling that Frank's Mrs is going to run against him.
