There will have to be or the Bruins will be screwed. Hamill, Colborne and Caron will always linger like rotten eggs for this franchise, and it really isn't hard to boil the way the last few years went to a lack of viable prospects from 2007-2010. With no young players ready to make the jump at key forward positions, Chiarelli had to try everything from rehabbing Pouliot to the Bourque nepotism experiment to playing fuckyfuck with the over 35 contract rules and bonus structure to a 2 for 4 trade to bringing over a 27 yr old rookie to NCAA UFA signings to find ways to round out his roster. He had to be good at five things because he was bad at that one at a time in his career when he didn't have the experience he has now, though he should have been better given his role in Ottawa. Since 2010, though, and based on nothing other than a little of this and a little of that which add up to nothing, I think there are about 10-12 guys who will play in the NHL who were drafted by the Bruins - excluding the guys who are already two or more seasons in the league. 2010 - Spooner, Trotman 2011 - O'Gara, maybe Ferlin and Khokhlachev 2012 - Subban, Griffith, maybe Benning 2013 - Arnesson, Cehlarik, maybe Fitzgerald 2014 - Pastrnak, Heinen. bostonfan is going to be all over you on this one. Maybe Benning.............with no mention of Gryz.

The nothing that is, and the nothing that isn't.
I love the scouting reports on him, I think it's great that he's been playing with the elite in the US development system, and I think he's way more David Warsofsky than Torey Krug. That in a nutshell is why maybe Benning but not GrizzledChick - which, coincidentally, is what you could fit any of those three guys inside.

It's also kind of odd that there have been 4 lower profile FA signings in the past few months. You have wonder if any of Frank Vatrano, Colby Cave, Austin Czarnik, or the Finnish kid (Jargonopp Kemppellainnian or something?) can compete for spots. A lot of new blood coming into Providence.

Out of all the free agent signings .............he intrigued me the most. Big boy who plays like one. "Hickman is a power forward in the truest sense of the term — using his size and strength to create scoring chances and willing to fight for his teammates or to change the momentum of a game when necessary. He has scored goals during his junior career by going into the tougher areas but it will be his willingness to throw the body that determines his upside at the pro level."

Just need to stay with the plan of keeping the CHL snobs out of Providence. So much for trading up and drafting the CHL's Sarnia Sting Pavel Zacha then. Oops I forgot ..........special exemption for Zacha.......with the absolute idea of him having an immediate impact in the NHL next year. No Providence down the road for this CHL player................make it happen PC DS. Your'e just not bright enough to know that this is a running fun joke and that I really have nothing against players from the CHL. Maybe your stupidity is the cure for OCD.

Yeah, ^that's the kind of description I want to hear right now. I'll be happy if any of the 5 are useful though.

Fletch. Legion and I have been kidding around with Book for years about NCAA vs CHL players. The NCAA boys are a superior breed, especially the undersized D-men. Unless, of course, it's one of those dirty stinkin' Eagles...

That's the best part, Chowdah; they start out trying to get under my skin about mite size NCAA defensemen and pretty soon it devolves into some version of Animal House or something where they're arguing about who gave whom a swirly in the visitors lockerroom at ol' Angus McButternutter Arena on the Swishburger campus of the University of Western North West Virgina State Technical College and Finishing School for Clowns.
I don't even have to engage.

Looking at your list again Book, are you saying they are all going to be NHL regulars or possible call ups as fill ins (like Florak, Lindblad etc)?

What happened to Camara? Was encouraged following his big year in 12-13, 36 goals in 50 games and the WJC bid.
He was 3-5-8 in 59 games LY with the PBruins, only 32 PIMs. Pretty brutal. He now has a mere 12 AHL goals in 117 games. He'll be 22 in September, fair to say he will has taken the Jared Knight route to Bust City? Too early?

I was curious about the Colin Stuart signing before the start of the season to play LW, he's an AHL lifer. So Camara had Florek, Cunningham (played a lot of LW in Providence), Knight and Lindbald all competing for left wing icetime. And then Paul Carey was brought in later in the season as well.
Or maybe he somehow got into Cassidy's doghouse. You can always email Mark Divver he always answers back.

I think it was Chowdah who called him Kassian lite, and that's probably a good shorthand. He's in that category of players who can be really difficult to project, and who can get stuck in tweenerville. He got drafted off of an 8 goal, 9 assist, 132 PiM year, and then got a chance to play wing with Scheifele on a very good Barrie team with a 16 yr old Ekblad. After his draft year, he never got close to his PIM total again, though a lot of that had to do with suspensions for reckless play. He's not a big player, but his junior game was predicated on reckless physical play, so it's entirely possible that that isn't going to translate for a guy who's only 6' 192. Seth Griffith is also listed at 192. From what I can gather about the P-Bruins, he's not playing in a scoring role, which makes me think the Scheifele year was a nice sendoff to Barrie but not what anyone in the organization thinks of this guy. If he wants to score, and they want him to run around and lay the body with abandon, he may be stuck unless he can wrap his head around a compromise.
His first year of 9-13-22 50 PIM in 58 games shows there's still something worth building on there, but with so many new players eligible to play in Providence next year, I won't be surprised if Camara goes to the ECHL. The most troubling thing would be the playoff scratches. We'll know pretty soon if he's on the bus to bustville, Crowls.

Just to expand on the Camara situation - there are going to be a lot of guys competing for jobs if everyone (every prospect anyway) is brought back.
Forwards battle will include Khokhlachev, Phillips, Griffith, Czarnik, Vatrano, Ferlin, Hickman, Cave, Sexton, Carey, Florek, Lindblad, Camara, Randell, Flick, possibly Kemppainen, Hargrove. 17 forwards.

Regarding Camara's game.........for me personally I wouldn't judge him on his numbers at the pro level. He was never going to be a player who scores anyways. He played with Schiefele.....the one year and improved on his numbers because of that. His skillset is that of an energy 3rd-4th line player who plays on the edge. Maybe the problem is that once he got to the AHL he was trying to do that against men instead of teenagers. Hasn`t worked out for him and maybe never will.
