What about Ozark and Succession? Both get high, high marks for sticking the landing with great endings. I loved Ozark as well. Great from first to last episode. Rose Langmore is a character for the ages. And I still have nightmares about Laura Linney.
We gave up on Succession. It was boring, the characters were not interesting enough and I found every single person unlikable.
Ozark was a joy to watch, agreed....Linney and the Rose character were so fantastic...helped carry the show. I never watched a single episode of Succession, not even a scene...You find yourself picking and choosing based on time and what you can watch as well...hence was able to bingewatch Breaking Bad during Covid County days.

Pesky Blinders Boardwalk Empire The Rifleman Leave it to Beaver Mayor of Kingstown Vikings I tired of Peaky Blinders after three seasons. Never got around to BE, and found Vikings way too soapy.

Despite NAS’s accurate assessment that there is no one to like, Succession was generally compelling. I had the same feeling about Breaking Bad and gave up on it multiple times before it clicked for me. Just hated every character and especially Skyler. The arcs on the main characters in succession are very well done with most of them getting what they deserve over and over and over.

Pesky Blinders Boardwalk Empire The Rifleman Leave it to Beaver Mayor of Kingstown Vikings Robby boy, I knew we'd find common ground. I love the Mayor Of Kingstown! The actual premise is really stupid (why does Mike want to save the town?) but Jeremy Renner is great and Bunny is the best. Emma Laird has THE hottest body on television and a big shout out to the other pride of Kingston, Ont, Hugh Dillon. For those who love Canadian rock, Hugh's band Headstones is worth a chance!
I turned off Peaky Blinders because I refuse to read subtitles when the language on the screen is English. I turned off Boardwalk Empire because I just couldn't hear the name Nucky anymore and because Steve Buschemi isn't a badass gangster. A killer, sure. A mastermind, okay. A local straight from the five family style gangster? Not Steve Buschemi.
I couldn't watch Vikings because I couldn't get past the lead actor being Erik Karlsson.

I don't watch shit. Two-thirds of the shows listed above I've never seen. Maybe I'll give Deadwood a try. I have such a preference for comedies, or books, that I just can't seem to get into too many of the drama style shows. It feels like a commitment. Same here, don't have the time. If I'm able to get on the couch, I'm asleep in 5 minutes. That said, Sopranos is my favorite. Eastbound and Down made me laugh out loud. Also liked 24 when it was on.

There really are slim pickings. Kind of settle for what’s available. If it’s remotely well written with decent acting I’ll stick it out. But, my go to is documentaries. Earths beginnings, construction of major projects, nature. I find those type of things to be informative as well as entertaining. NAS your points are accurate, lot of mediocrity and settling for stuff out there….

I really tried with Vikings because my girlfriend's Icelandic/Norwegian (mostly) and loves that stuff, but it just had way too much of that soapy vibe that turned me off of Sons of Anarchy. Too many daddy issues and self-justification over not being able to keep from sticking his dick in whatever came within range. Yawn. I would have loved Peaky as a movie, but like so many shows made for streaming, it was like they had thought through the first two seasons as a tight, integrated story arc and when success demanded more, they went straight to the old broadcast TV bag of tricks and had some twist of fate just turn the story back three chapters so they could run them again, but this time with a loveable urchin or some stupid minor change. This time, the rival gang is Jewish! I've never thought about why I've never give Boardwalk a look, but I think you just articulated it. But mostly, I responded to say hell yeah, the Headstones is a good summer scorcher band. When Something Stand for Nothing and their version of Tweeter and the Monkey Man established them in Canada; second album had some great tunes like Unsound, Teeth and Tissue, Dripping Dime Sized Drops, and then the third album had a few with Smile & Wave, Cubically Contained, Supersmart. Next album wasn't as sharp and that was about when the gap hit. Dillon's gone through the wringer a few times (notoriously fond of booze and drugs at the start), and the band dropped off when he was pushing full time as an actor. First thing I saw him in as an actor was Hard Core Logo - a Canadian indie road movie about a punk band trying to make it work with a nutso frontman played by Dillon. I assumed there was no acting (though the Headstones are more straight rock). I didn't think much of him as an actor, but then he was the lead in a cop series that reminds me in retrospect of what True Detective did a decade later (and miles better). Loved it. His resume now is pretty solid. 4 seasons as a lead on Flashpoint, 1 on the Killing, 3 years as a character on Yellowstone, something called X-Company I've never heard of...now Mayor of Kingstown. Now I want to look into their recent albums. People told me the Love and Fury (11 years after Oracle of Hi-Fi) was back on point, but I never gave it a chance.

At some point Ridley Scott took over as my favorite over Kubrick and Scorcese. Probably with Gladiator and Matchstick Men.
The Aesthetics of the way Blade Rumner is shot are incredible. They should do a series. But it would probably suck like the sequel.

Movie gets over shadowed by the fact Harris had other ideas for Clarice and Julienne Moore took over from Jody.

I like Sorkin. I will not watch Guy Richie.

Sort of surprised that The Boys hasn't shown up here. Has it? I can't remember. It is maybe the most graphic show ever, so not for you if you don't like gore, a lot of swearing, and a general air of depravity. I like the cynical take on a world with superheroes. What would actually happen to normal people if the Flash happened to run into them at speed or if some kid learning to control his power has a tantrum. It's very dark and has a sense of humour, and there is a claustrophobic, imoending sexual assault atmosphere around some of the characters that is effectively unsettling. Not a relaxing night after work.
The latest season seems to have dipped into allegory and politics, which will turn some people off. I don't know if I recommend it, but I do think it's interesting in the way it pushes boundaries.

Starlight was such a smokeshow unti she fucked her face all up with surgery.

Starlight was such a smokeshow unti she fucked her face all up with surgery. I get that; it's more comic book than the Marvel movies in some ways. They did a Batman comic in the 80s where he had thought through the idea that Superman might turn fascist, and planned to stop him, and that's a central part of the whole Homelander story except with Homelander and Karl Urban instead of Superman and Batman. That kind of thing is hardcore comic nerd debate. I watched season 1 and put it down for a while, then season 2, put it down. I got caught up on season three because they're about 3/4 of the way through season four, but I might have been just as happy with them ending it after two. Giancarlo Esposito seems to have walked away from it, and he was great playing the one character he always plays.
